when i try to go to sleep?
i feel my heart beats fast and irregular, sometimes a little cramp near heart and i jump up for air leaving me jittery, dizzy, sometimes confused. when trying to fall asleep, i feel like i’m going into a deep sleep or coma. feels weird. ekg in the ER was normal, saw my doc and he looked at me like i was crazy. i feel like its a heart attack or stroke but i dont have any of those symptoms. i have lots of issues, sleep apnea (use CPAP), diabetes, high blood pressure, bad sleep habits. any suggestions?

You know, i kind of have the same problem. I have this weird fear of dying in my sleep. There have been many nights, since i was a teenager, where i refused to fall asleep because i was scared. And it’s really weird like sometimes i will be sleeping and just all of a sudden jump out of bed gasping for air because i thought that i had stopped breathing, and i would be all jittery and not be able to fall back asleep. Sometimes i would even think i was having a heart attack or stroke like you said. I now have come to the conclusion that it is a panic disorder and I am just having a panic attack. I used to get them more when i lived by myself, but now that i have roommates i rarely ever get panic attacks. I know, it’s weird. But what i’m getting at is that you are probably just having a panic attack. All of your symptoms suggest that… fast heart beat, chest pains, jittery, dizzy, confusion, thinking that your having a heart attack, and thinking that you are loosing your mind. I learned about this in psychology classes. Sometimes just telling your self "I am OK. I am just being silly, and it is all in my head!" (or something along these lines) will help calm you down. Also try doing yoga or exercising to take your mind away from whatever it is that you are freaking out about. Talk to your doc again about this or trying talking to a psychologist to find out what’s really going on, cuz its probably all just in your head :)
Get your sleeping cycle regular and try a sleeping pill.
