Throat Problem At Night. What is Wrong with ME?
I have a serious medical issue that has not been resolved and it is slowing getting worse. It started about 2.5 years ago not too long after a car accident where i would be sleeping and wake up with a severely dry throat. I would and still do wake up 2 to 10 times a night and i have water next to my bed to take care od the dryness. Now it feels like theres something in the back of my throat yet ive never coughed something up ever. Last couple months i have had a slight cough and i have to clear my throat sometimes. 1st doctor i saw had an xray done of my throat as well as sleep apnea test. The sleep apnea test i only got 1 hour of sleep so naturally they didnt find anything wrong. But either way i dont snore which is common among people with sleep apnea. 2nd doctor was nose and throat specialist who thinks i have acid reflux yet i dont have a history of heart burn. im taking pills for it but it just gives me gas with no reief of my symptoms.

I had a similar problem and was lucky enough to find out that going to a chiropractor really helped. It turned out I had a pinched nerve that was causing the feeling in the back of my throat and having my neck adjusted really helps.
do you drink milk or eat dairy ???if so stop- this or if you smoke stop this! I have had a slight cough at night and I believe it is from milk , my grandfather has done the same cough for 82 years, stop worrying(coughing would be better)
Look at the total water in take that your drinking? needs to be at least 32-40 ounces a day .
Also could be sinus drainage?
Do you eat a lot of oranges? lemon juice? grapefruit? citric acid will do this too.
Too much sodas , caffeine , also can dry you out!!
being diabetic also can make you dry?
Hope this helps!! Warm drinks also may be better than cold ones, also if you sleep next to a fan or air conditioner, or furnace vent etc… makes it dryer too, if pet dander can cause it!!
Hi Jason,With a car wreck,It is possible that you could have damaged a disc in the neck pinching a nerve that would cause the sillivary glands to stop working. If you have tightness in either shuolder when moving your head side to side your neck is not properly aligned. Some Doctors recomend a pillow that has a valley running down the middle to support the neck.Another possible cause could be a sinus infection that the Doctor isn`t recognizing.Yet another condition could be a tooth infection that has infected the eustachian tube to affect the salivary gland. For acid reflux try a table spoon of apple cider vineger in a half glass of water 30 minutes before bedtime.Pro Biotics at the heath food store is very benificial against acid reflux and a coated tongue.
