Okay, sorry this is so long, i just had to explain myself :p
For about the past year or so I’ve been noticing that during the day I am always fatigued. Some days when i have nothing at all to do I could sleep about 16 hours. My mom didn’t think anything of it cause I’m 16 and she just thinks i stay out all night lol. I could sleep about 16 or so hours, wake up, be exhausted, and take a nap and sleep some more, then around 8 go back to sleep. I know this isn’t normal, and isn’t physically, nor mentally/emotionally healthy. I am anemic and i figured it was because my lack of iron. And thats also what my doctor told me. but recently i’ve been noticing that in the middle of the night I will get woken up due to bone aches. Not like muscle aches, but bone aches. And there so bad ill have to get up and take something and suffer through until the medicine kicks in. It’s normally like, my elbow, the bones all through my legs, and my pelvic area. I also wake in the middle of the night and catch myself not breathing. But that doesn’t happen as often as the aches. I did some research and found that i have many symptoms of sleep apnea. But i don’t want to be put on a breathing machine, because I don’t want to become dependent. I also don’t like, wanna be married and before bed have to plug up on oxygen or whatever. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any information or suggestions. Or if anyone knew if there were other procedures, not sergical, that I could take into consideration.
Thank you, if you read all of this and are attempting to help me. I appreciate it. :)
no, i am not overweight. i’m about 5′5 and weight 115. i dont have diabetes either.
And i also do not sleep on my back, I can only sleep on my stomach. And i’ve always been that way =/

My father had a heart attack in feb due to complete blockage of his left ventricle he had stint placed. He also has sleep apnea and on bypap at night also COPD and congestive heart failure he now has acute respiratory failure and on oxygen at home. The doctors said that if he has another epidsode with not getting enough o2 they will place a ventilator he is at maximum treatment for his problems. Is there anyone else out there that knows or has this many health problems and if so what is on the road ahead of him so I can somewhat prepare. And is there any breakthrough treatments that anyone has read or heard about that may help him he is now a non-smoker has not smoked since feb,HIs last hospital stay he was in ICU his o2 level dropped to 38% so they put on bypap set at 40%. He is home now on nasal canula. along with many many medications he is only 56.Help I dont wanna lose my daddy

Question is stated above asking if there are any breakthrough things that have just came out and if anyone else had this or know someone with it. And what can I expect

I have many symptoms of sleep apnea but my sleep study shows that it is not an issue. I am tired all the time, no energy or motivation. Depression and anxiety are a major problem. I wake up many times a night feeling like I cannot catch my breath, like my chest is very heavy and not getting enough air/oxygen. What other conditions could cause these symptoms?

After those 5 sleep studies Dr. Bond told me that I was untrearable. He had used MANY different masks, also using oxygen. I was told the average person with apnea stops breathing somewhere between 5 to 15 per hour. On my first test that number was 69, and has varied between 55 to 75 thru those 5 tests. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A HIGHLY REGARDED SPECIALIST ON APNEA somewhere relatively close to Williamsburg, VA. My doctor, Thompson Bond, is well qualified, but I’m desperate to be able to get some sleep at night. If the present pattern holds, I probably won’t last the year out. THAT’S DESPERATE.

When I go to sleep, sometimes I wake up and when I do wake up, I feel that i have no oxygen in my body, little dehydrated, catching for a breathe because I feel discomforted a lttle but. Sometimes I feel that i am little unconsious, not too dizzy though.. trying to get more oxygen by taking a deep breathe due to weird symptom.. I dont think it is sleep apnea because I am physically fit.. weight l40lbs and my height is 5 feet 6. if it is not sleep apnea? what would it be? feeling that I have no oxygen, taking a deep breathe to feel better? in my body? head? It occurs times to times these days? how can it be treated?

Husband was diagnosed with sleep apnea in 2006. He lost 80 pounds,hd his oxygen checked weekly and stopped using cpap because he felt he was cured. He has gained some weight back and complains about not sleeping well.

Okay, so last year I miscarried at 6 weeks – but I didn’t even find out I was pregnant for sure until I was in the middle of misscarrying (took tests religiously everday for weeks, never registered positive until 1 day into the miscarriage) – if you read back on my questions about a year ago, I had about 10 x-rays to my stomach around implantation, and 3 weeks later began to bleed heavily. I blamed the x-rays all this past year, up until the other day when I got to thinking about SLEEP APNEA and pregnancy…..there is a chance I am pregnant right now, but this had NEVER crossed my mind until recently. It would make sense right?? A woman quits breathing 59 times an hour while she’s sleeping – that’s a part of EVERY minute, every hour….so it’s cutting off oxygen to the placenta…..anyone ever stopped and thought about this before??….Now I’m almost 100 percent sure it caused my miscarriage last year, and am terrified this time around. If I am pregnant I would be 4 1/2 – 5 weeks and I don’t go back for my cpap (breathing maching) fitting until this friday, and then it will take another 10 days after that before I can get my machine from the Medical Supply store…that’s IF sleep apnea caused the miscarriage a year ago….what do you think?

I was just diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and my doctor says that he wants to do surgery on both my palate and nasal airway. He says that my nasal airway is barely open and not getting any oxygen in it when I try to breathe (mouth breather). I don’t want the surgery, so he says that he’ll only let me try the CPAP for one night at the hospital but that if it doesn’t work, he’ll do the surgery anyway. Has anyone here had nasal surgery? Is it done awake/asleep? Does it hurt? Does it work? I’m really scared about it but all Doc tells me is not to worry. Easy for him to say.

I was 4 months pregnant when I started experience "sleep apnea" symptoms. I would wake up in the middle of the night gasping desperately for air. My son is 17 months now and it happens maybe 2xs/month. I live in Florida and we had some major smoke inhalation about 2 weeks ago, but I sat down to relax after a long day and felt like I wasnt getting enough oxygen, to the point I had my husband almost call 911. We went to the doctor that night and he gave me breathing treatments and my new doc has been getting tests for me left and right. Chest x-rays, thyroid ultrasound and breathing tests. I also have trouble swallowing with these episodes. Last night I was having some difficulty again and my friend looked over at me when I was giving a gurgling sound with it and she said it was like I swallowed a walnut! Right in the bottom of the neck- the empty part, above the chest bone, she said it was like a huge growth. I wasnt laying back just trying to breath normal, and Im a woman….

I also have to have oxygen hooked to my machine why do some people need oxygen and others don’t I am only 33 but yes I am overweight Does it get better

I am a disabled F/T student & not working. My healh plan is Kaiser HMO, but they CONTINUE to decline a Polysomnogram study req. My primary care doctor told me on 8/23/07 to give it till October 07 & if symptoms continue, she will consider MY REQUEST of referring me to UCSF sleep lab, but DECLINED on two occasions. I am very frustrated with Kaiser & my overall care. Apparently, Kaiser only does the over night pulse oximeter testing that I already had done & does not perform over night studies, known as Polysomnogram. I have been having severe breathing problems, esp. at bedtime. My oxygen continues to drop several times at bedtime (i.e. 86-88%) This is not normal for me, let alone anyone. COULD ANYONE REFER ME TO A POLYSOMNOGRAM FREE SLEEP STUDY. I have been looking on www.clinicaltrials.gov and www.clinicalconnections.com for several months, but no luck. I live near S.F. CA, but willing to travel somewhat to do this study. Pls, adv, as I have been in/out ER several time

I have sleep apnea and use a sleep apnea breathing machine when sleeping (no oxygen) with a mask and distilled water. When travelling on an airplane internationally can I bring it with me so it is with me at the other country when I get there?

Did you ahver to have an overnight sleep test done at the hospital-and did your dr. of neurologist have to order it. Did Insurance give you a hassel. I am newely diagnosed but am on an oxygen converter and it does not help me sleep. I understand a CPAP does and would like to hear of your experience and if possible, the brand you use for the base unit and mask.
this would be of such help to me in my old age.

thank you for taking time to share with me.

I have a 9 year old son. He is still having problem wetting the bed a night, we usuall use good nites because he pees way to much. I read an article about a clinic in Florida that specializes in children who still wet the bed due to a disorder called Oxygen Deprived sleep. It causes kids to stay in a stage 4 sleep most of the night, so when the bladder sends a signal to the brain that it is full the brain does not get it due to such a deep sleep. Now we are from New Orleans and it is just not an option to go to Florida to have this treatment. Does anyone know of any clinics closer to me? Has anyone been through this? Any advice would be such a help.

What are the chances of a person with sleep apnea dying due to lack of oxygen?
