This has been going on for 6 months now when it happens it is her hands, feet and now her lips. She acts fine and is very active, i’ve been to the doctors multiple times and still i have no answers they have done an echo and blood work and the only thing they found out was that she has a small hole in her heart i guess it is the one that is most common and usually clears on its own…and they are telling me that it isn’t that i don’t know what to do i’ve been to one of the best hospitals in the area and no one can tell me what is wrong with her, they even did a sleep apnea test which turned out ok. It doesn’t happen all the time just randomly and mostly when she wakes up from a nap. can anyone help me figure this out i’m out of options and these doctors are treating me like i’m crazy.

Okay, sorry this is so long, i just had to explain myself :p
For about the past year or so I’ve been noticing that during the day I am always fatigued. Some days when i have nothing at all to do I could sleep about 16 hours. My mom didn’t think anything of it cause I’m 16 and she just thinks i stay out all night lol. I could sleep about 16 or so hours, wake up, be exhausted, and take a nap and sleep some more, then around 8 go back to sleep. I know this isn’t normal, and isn’t physically, nor mentally/emotionally healthy. I am anemic and i figured it was because my lack of iron. And thats also what my doctor told me. but recently i’ve been noticing that in the middle of the night I will get woken up due to bone aches. Not like muscle aches, but bone aches. And there so bad ill have to get up and take something and suffer through until the medicine kicks in. It’s normally like, my elbow, the bones all through my legs, and my pelvic area. I also wake in the middle of the night and catch myself not breathing. But that doesn’t happen as often as the aches. I did some research and found that i have many symptoms of sleep apnea. But i don’t want to be put on a breathing machine, because I don’t want to become dependent. I also don’t like, wanna be married and before bed have to plug up on oxygen or whatever. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any information or suggestions. Or if anyone knew if there were other procedures, not sergical, that I could take into consideration.
Thank you, if you read all of this and are attempting to help me. I appreciate it. :)
no, i am not overweight. i’m about 5’5 and weight 115. i dont have diabetes either.
And i also do not sleep on my back, I can only sleep on my stomach. And i’ve always been that way =/

This only happens at night when I am about to fall asleep. It’s between
that period where you are half asleep, yet still awake. It doesn’t happen during the day or if I take a nap on rare occasions. It feels like my heart is coming out of my throat or something. It is so weird and kinda hard to explain. It seriously sits me up out of bed making me freak out b/c it’s scary, it seriously makes me feel like I’m about to die. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like it’s my heart jumping out of my throat, but rather a big lump in my throat or something. I don’t know, it’s just weird to explain. I use to happen to me years ago maybe just a few times a month and then went away for years, but this past year, it seems like it happens every single night. I know I need to go to the doctor, but I was hoping until then someone may know something. The only thing I could think of is sleep apnea, but none of the symptoms fit me when I checked webmd. I was diagnosed with a heart murmer a few years back, but I don’t think that has anything to do with it.
I don’t think I have anxiety. I told a friend about this and that’s what he said. I just don’t understand what I would be anxious about when I’m lying in bed just chilled and relaxed and watching TV.

Ear nose and throat? Is there another name for ear nose and throat doctor? They don’t have any listed under my insurance plan.
The GP refuses to give us an appointment. She said it sounds like nothing by my description. I’d like to punch her in the face. I’m gonna go to straight to the specialist. Otolaryngologists is on the list, thanks.
No I don’t know if it’s apnea or not. I’m guessing based on what I have read. It also could be asthma. Because the GP is not helping me figure it out, I’m going straight to the specialist.
I brought him to my chiropractor 2 days ago, and he said it’s just really bad sinuses and allergies. He gave him an adjustment and he’s already breathing better. So far he has done last night, through the night without trouble (I stayed awake watching him) and today’s nap and so far tonight, he’s been breathing.
Thanks to everyone for the help and advice. If it happens again, I’ll talk to an ENT, but so far, it’s looking good. I did make an appointment with the allergist to check on it.

i love to sleep. i always sleep but i used to LOVE it lol. as sad as it may sound. but anyway…for as far back as i remember i would nap during the day. i didn’t HAVE to nap but i would. a 15-30 min nap would do wonders for me. but recently i have been HAVING to sleep and get tired during the day. i have been diagnosed with sleep apnea and use a treatment for that which they have tested on me and they say it works.

lately in the past few months ive just been extreamly exhausted. i need to take naps during the day or else i can’t function. i often get very sleepy while driving or sitting for more than 20 min. when i get home from work and school i have to take a nap which now lasts about 2 hours. its annoying that im always so tired because i have things to do and im just to exhausted to do them! i sleep about 6 hours a night and often when i sleep more the symptoms worsen. what can i do? do u think its diabetes??? im worried! :(
i was involved in a sleep study where i was able to get benefit from nose strip kind of things. they hooked me up and they work just like the CPAP maching, where they helped my breathing while asleep.

I am a 21 year old male, i have moderate sleep apnea and i have a lot of trouble sleeping with the CPAP machine. My body constantly aches and ever y6 weeks or so i get a temperate and they worse. Randomly throughout the day the muscle aches get worse but tend to get better with time. I am usually very fatigued but i cant fall asleep or nap and such. Would getting my tonsils and amnoids etc.. taken out be a better option for me than trying to a djust to the CPAP? And also, can sleep apnea actually be the cause of all of these aches going through my body?

I am 52, recently diagnosed as post menopausal and have been having
extreme fatigue and sleepiness. It has become more or less regular for me to nap 2-4 hours when I get home from work. Often I won’t even hear the phone ring. Lately I’ve been waking up occasionally with a feeling of a catch in my throat or making a "snorting" sound. I’ve done a little on line research and it sounds very possible. I’m just wondering if anyone else out there has experienced similar symptoms. Any feedback would be helpful. (right now I’m a little anxious about the whole thing)

Here are his symptoms: SNORING, stops breathing at times, night sweats, sore throat, headaches, daytime sleepiness. He can take a nap at anytime during the day! And it only takes him about a minute to fall asleep! He stays up late, and is constantly waking up during the night, too. It’s starting to really affect my sleep! I NEED HELP!

I can sleep 10-12 hrs at night and then take a nap too. If I sleep under 10 hrs of sleep I can easily take a 4 hr nap in the afternoon/evening and still fall asleep no problem around 1 AM and sleep 10 hrs or more.

I did not start any new medications. I am not pregnant. I do not have sleep apnea. My thyroid blood tests were normal and I do not have anemia. I have fibromyalgia and restless legs, but I have had these a long time and the level of tiredness has been way worse more recently.

What can make me so tired? Any ideas for solutions?

i am going to be getting a sleep and nap study in mid january to test for narcalepsy and sleep apnea. the narcalepsy symptoms i have are REM Disorders (vivid dreams in 10 minute naps) since i can remember, always tired and lethargic since elementary school, always wanting to take naps and sleep late (ask my teachers and work) and started having sleep paralysis and hypnogogic hallucinations 3 years ago. i am 28 years old by the way.

i know that sleep apnea can cause excessive daytime sleepiness. i’m not sure i have sleep apnea but i snore tremendously and my husband notices i stop breathing sometimes, but not for very long. My question is, can lack of sleep cause narcalepsy and sleep paralysis to worsen or appear? i know it’s neurological but If one has sleep apnea for years and years, can this lead to sleep paralysis and narcalepsy symptoms? I can’t find anything to answer this question and would like to be as informed as possible before seeing my sleep doctor again. Thank you
to rosie
u didn’t answer my question
i’m pretty sure i have sleep apnea
but if i have it, can it lead to slight symptoms of narcalepsy and full blown sleep paralysis like i have been experiencing my whole life??

sleep apnea. For the last few years I have been sleep
walking. I do alot of different things in my sleep & appear to others as if Im awake, but I never have any recollection of it, others tell me.

Im tired all day I cant go to bed early because I will wake up every 2 hours. But even if I get 7 hours of sleep Im still tired all day. Then mid-day around 1 or 2, It is terribly hard for me to stay awake. In my last job I would start nodding out so I would just lay my head down & take a nap comfortably. With my new job, I cant do that. But that doesnt stop me from nodding out!

Ive been having to drive in the middle of the day for my job and even still, I nod out. Its getting worse, just on Thursday I had a 45 minutes drive and came way too close to having 6 or 7 different accidents. Its very scary, Ive been waking up just at the right time. And it doesnt matter what I do, I cant stay awake.

My memory has also been awful and I have a headache at least 5 days a week.
Please give me any information you can. And if you need more details let me know & i will post. Oh & I also have an overactive bladder. and often have very vivid dreams, i dont think they could be called nightmares, but sometimes scary. Oh and bad back pain, which probably has nothing to do with it, but thought id let u know.

THANKS SO MUCH,

MANDEE
do you wake up gasping for breath? Do you snore loudly? Do your feet swell, especially the tops? Are you overweight? Have you had your tonsils taken out? Do you smoke, and drink, or both? What is your blood pressure? Do you find that you sleep better sitting up?

No i dont gasp, I dont snore, im actually about 20lbs underweight, my feet dont swell, I do smoke , i drink but only occasionally , my blood pressure is around low 100's/80's or 90's. and i rarely try to sleep sitting up if so its only breifly after nodding out. A guy at work who has it told me this. he has 4 out of 7 factors?

He works days, 6am- 4 pm. Has sleep apnea. I work nights, 4.30pm- 11 pm. I am insomniac. How do we get over these fights??
I get upset cause i dont want him takeing so many naps, not only cause i am coinvinced that it makes his condition worse, but clearly we hardly ever see each other. I wish that instead of wanting to take a nap in ever free second he has that we could atleast do something together. Also i bitch cause i wish he would stay up later on weekends,….he wants to go to sleep at 10.30 pm like a usual work night, but then sleeps till 12.30 pm in the afternoon.
He gets mad cause i come home from work, stay up till 2-3am and then eventually with time fall asleep. I never take naps, get up around 10.30 am usually with the kids etc….
HOw can we both be happy and get over this butting heads conditions of ours?? It really does start alot of fights. I wish we could find a solution! Any help, or ppl in the same position?
O.k. you guys make me sound like a completely clueless wife. Like i dont know what sleep apnea is, geeze, i am married to the guy. I am not retarded. He does have a Cpap machine, but he doesnt use it. Plus he smokes like a chimney. So before you think its all me and i should lay off,….realize thats not the case. So to make it more obvious to everyone else:
Yes i know what sleep apnea is, i am the one who told him about it!
Yes i know nagging doesnt help, but i also read that 7 hours or so of sleep on the machine minus daily naps will be better for him in the long run….Anyways just thought i would clear that up. I am not stupid i know what the condidtion is….better then he does actually. Like i said, i had to coinvince him for two years to go to the Dr.

I have been using a Cpap machine for Server sleep apnea, and it changed my life i didnt nap once during the day where as before i constantly napped. however i am finding my self feeling a little tired these days, why would this be?, i get a great nights sleep so i believe so it isnt making much sense.
anyone experience this at all and have any clues?
