Last year May I was diag. with bacterial vaginosis and treated with a dose of 3 pills at one time. (I also had an abnormal pap & colposcopy which came out negative.) I did not feel right and went back recently. I was diag. with vaginosis again and was given Flagyl for 7 days. I saw my regular MD for the past month for other symptoms, after a urine test said I had a UTI and gave me a dose of Cipro (3 pills/3 days.) I have finished this dosing and still 2 weeks later know that I am not right. I am going to go back t the Gyn again for a 4th treatment. Before the summer I have never had anything like this not even a yeast infection.

I have been going to my MD for other symptoms such has palpitations, high blood pressure (145/100), dizzy spells, nausea spells, fatigue, headaches, ear infections, flushing, periods of low body temp (94 deg) and low pulse, night sweats, sleep apnea and brown spots on my back. Now Im just nervous that the bacterial vaginosis could be a sign something else??

Last night I took a sleep study, and the doctor called me back and said I have mild sleep apnea, and he was more concerned with my low oxygen levels, so he is going to do a test from my home when I sleep to check my oxygen with a cpap machine while I sleep. He asked if I have lung or heart problems, and I don’t know if I do. Do you think my family practitioner will check into these areas? and what is wrong with low oxygen levels? I do have high blood pressure, usually 138/90. I am overweight also. He told me if I lose 20 to 25 lbs my sleep apnea would go away, but does that mean my low oxy levels will go away? I’m a little scared because I do find it hard to breathe at times. I can’t lay down straight because my breasts seem to weigh down on my heart. Also, does insurance let you keep the cpap machine or do you have to give it back after more tests? Just curious. When they let me try it on last night on my sleep study, i felt such relief because I could breathe so much better with it on. I am also being checked for diabetes, thyroid problems. When I had the things on my neck and head last night for sleep study it like made my neck hurt bad, is this normal? Someone give me some insight.
Also would low oxygen levels have anything to do with my thyroid?

Ive recently started having fatigue, high blood pressure, dizzy spells, waking up to throw up from a dead sleep, nausea spells during the day, lump in my throat near my thyroid(thryoid test came out ok), night sweats, waking up in the night with low grade fevers (94 degree), and I know I do suffer from sleep apnea sometimes. What could it be? Im 23 female thin.

I have the AutoPAP which I will use forever as I’ve been told. I also have high blood pressure which requires medication and is not within the ranges in AR 40-501. Am I going to be taken off scholarship?

My sister is 62 yrs. old , she has Diabetis, High Blood Pressure, Parkinsons, obesity and 2 mos. ago she suffered a Hairline Fracture to her left knee. Prior to this she had a Masectomy in 97. She has been in remission since then but has had chemo/radiation and is down to chemo once per month. It turns out she has Sleep Apnea and is given breathing treatments. Her lungs are small, stiff and scared. Xrays were taken one week ago only to find fluid in her lungs. It is blood/clots. A tubing the size of a cathether was inserted into her left lung and has been draining blood over 400 cc per day. She’s down to 300cc per day. An Antibiotic was injected 2 times into the tubing to go into the lung which was very painful. It’s to heal the lung and hopefully stop the bleeding. A white fluid was coming out when they took off the clamp but the bleeding/clots returned. The Dr. wants to give her a 3rd treatment. She has Stage 4 cancer. How bad is this? What are her chances of survival?

Apparently, as a young boy, I was afflicted with ADHD, (an unknown affliction back then), I grew up with very little self esteem (I firmly believed that I was a major cause of the worlds problems). As I grew older I developed depression, high blood pressure, high cholestoral, and a hammer toe. I’ve always had trouble sleeping and became an insomniac with restless leg syndrome, and later discovered that I have a severe case of sleep apnea.
I now take medicines for high blood pressure, cholesteral, and anti-depressants. I take sleeping pills and meds for RLS at night and I have to sleep with one of those sleep apnea machines.
With all that, I still get quite depressed, have a miserable time getting to sleep at night, with my legs continuously on the move, wake up tired with a low level of energy, somedays I don’t care if I do anything.
Do you suppose that a GOOD STIFF, STRONG, STRAIGHT SHOT OF WHISKEY WOULD HELP?
Thank you.
I said apparently I had ADHD. I don’t think any kid ‘knows’ that he has the problem. The symptoms as they are described today, fill the description of my childhood experiences quite well. Somebody already mentioned that in those days, that kind of behavior was handled with a lot of punishing, scolding and belittling by the teachers and others who had authority over a kids life. Believe me, that kind of crap comes back to haunt you.

How many of you use, or know someone who uses a CPAP machine at night to help them breathe and not to snore?

I am very curious about this, since CPAPs save lives all over the world. I think we all need more education on CPAP machines, and we need to spread the word that if people snore or stop breathing at night, they should have a sleep study done.

Sleep Apnea causes high blood pressure, can cause strokes and heart attacks. It sometimes makes people have heartburn at night, and makes them sleepy during the day. People can become forgetful or irritated. This is just a short list of all the damage that having untreated sleep apnea can cause.

i feel my heart beats fast and irregular, sometimes a little cramp near heart and i jump up for air leaving me jittery, dizzy, sometimes confused. when trying to fall asleep, i feel like i’m going into a deep sleep or coma. feels weird. ekg in the ER was normal, saw my doc and he looked at me like i was crazy. i feel like its a heart attack or stroke but i dont have any of those symptoms. i have lots of issues, sleep apnea (use CPAP), diabetes, high blood pressure, bad sleep habits. any suggestions?

im very overweight and would like to have the lap band surgery done. i dont have health insurance because i live in ny and i supposedly make too much money, i dont see how 200 a week is a lot of money but…thats governor pataki for ya lol…anyway im well over 400lbs, i have all the symptoms: sleep apnea, high blood pressure…you name it. i was in the hospital in 2002 for heart arithmia and charity covered it, i was wondering if i can do the same for the surgery?
yea but i have to live in pa dont i lol?

My navy husband and I are scheduled to move (PCS) to London, England. I have a few health issues like high blood pressure, but they’re well managed and under control. However, now I’ve been told I’ll need to use a BiPap machine (basically forced air to keep my airway open during sleep) for my apnea. Does anyone know if this will put me into the Exceptional Family Member category? We’re all so excited about this assignment, and I’d hate to lose it over this.

A few years ago I thought I had heart trouble (turns out it was heat exhaustion) but was found to have thickening of my heart. My doctor said it’s usually caused by high blood pressure, but I’ve NEVER had a high reading except the end of a pregnancy. It’s usually on the low side. So now that that I know there’s a possibility of having sleep apnea (being tested again in a couple of weeks) I looked up on the internet if this could cause thickening of the heart, and it looks like it can. Anybody have any more knowledge or experience with this?

And just for anybody who doesn’t know, because I didn’t until very recently, sleep apnea doesn’t just disturb sleep but is also hard on your heart.

My partner and I are disagreeing about the wording for our abstract. Would someone rewrite it using both or just give your opinion on which one i should use?

OPTION 1

Over 20 million Americans suffer some degree of sleep apnea; those who do suffer from Sleep Apnea, are prone to suffer from excessive sleepiness, waking frequently throughout the night, morning headaches, and severe side effects on the heart and circulation. This project was designed to inform those suffering, or those who know someone suffering from Sleep Apnea.
Data was extracted from many reliable sources, along with a live interview. It was determined that sleep apnea is not widely known and often goes undiagnosed. The general population has probably already been exposed to Sleep Apnea without knowing it. There are few cases that have negative repercussions that may be life threatening, and require a doctor’s assistance.
The doctor revealed that there are many different treatments available for sleep apnea that can help to reduce, if not eliminate, the side effects. It is recommended that you should begin a healthy diet to help reduce Sleep Apnia, some healthy measure you can take are: Avoid alcohol and sedatives, some medications are designed to keep the patient breathing overnight. People with sleep apnea can also use a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) mask or a BIPAP (Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure) mask to relieve the symptoms. In severe cases, surgery may be required to relieve the symptoms.
More people need to know about sleep apnea because it could be depriving them of sleep and contributing to high blood pressure and other circulatory problems. This could inspire people to go consult their doctor about their sleeping patterns and get treatment if it’s needed.

Over 20 million Americans suffer some degree of sleep apnea; all of these people are in danger for side effects such as excessive sleepiness, waking frequently throughout the night, morning headaches, and severe side effects on the heart and circulation. This project was created to inform people about this condition so they can help themselves or family members that may be suffering.

Data was extracted from many reliable sites, pamphlets, books, and from a live interview with sleep expert. It was determined that sleep apnea is not widely known and often goes undiagnosed. The general population needs to be informed about this condition because there can be life-threatening repercussions that require being treated by a doctor.

The doctor revealed that there are many different treatments available for sleep apnea that can help to reduce, if not eliminate, the side effects. It is recommended that people with sleep apnea should lose a reasonable amount of weight in healthy ways, avoid alcohol and sedatives, can use medication to stimulate the brain to keep the patient breathing throughout the entire night. People with sleep apnea can also use a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) mask or a BIPAP (Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure) mask to relieve the symptoms. In severe cases, surgery could be needed to relieve the symptoms.

Ok.. So I went to have a sleep study and I was very very uncomfortable and hated the enviorment but managed to fall asleep half azz asleep. I moved a lot due to discomfort in the bed. However I slept about 5.49 hours. Out of those 5.49 hours I have 2 obstructed apneas 2 Central apneas and 66 partial apneas. Now the 66 partials from what I was told are not a 100% cessation in breathing. My oxgyen levels never fell below 88%. Now I have been diagnosed just about a month ago with High Blood pressure but it was with a new doc that had no medical history on me and I have a long long history of low blood pressure. So I have lost 27 pounds since the sleep study and since being put on BP meds 29 days ago. I went back to to my CPAP Titration study and the tech had to come in and ask me to lay on my back because she was not getting any negative readings. Then when I moved to my back which was hard to stay on since I DON"T sleep on my back the highest level of setting the CPAP machine ended up on was 6 and she said that was pushing it. She said I dreamt alot and didn’t move as much as last time. ( This time I brought my own pillows)….. Along with all this my BP meds 5mg of Amlodipine 1 time a day is dropping my BP down to like 104/68 maybe 107/70 during the day and down to 90/64 with heart rate of 54 at night. Now this Doc seems to keep telling me :(ITS OK).. I don’t feel ok.. I am only 38 and I weight now 223 was 248 29 days ago. I am eating healthy quit smoking and drinking and no caffeine. This docs major patient base is geriatric I am thinking that he is over reacting to my symptoms and treating me by the book instead of by symptoms and as an individual. Maybe even more like if I were an elderly patient…. What is everyones opinons???? I just think he maybe has over reacted a bit and hasn’t allowed me to try and fix myself without meds.. Which I think is the most healthy way to do it as long as I am not placing myself in stroke or heart attack situations.. I mean this doc did an ekg and I have very large breasts and the EKG he said may have shown left ventrical hytrophy or something like that but anyway sent me for an echo and my heart was AWESOME they said and ejection rate was 67%. What do you guys think????? Sorry so long winded…. LOL!!!
