OK, I already posted this in the toddler section, but I seem to get more responses here in newborn and baby, and lots of you have more than one child, so here goes…We have noticed my son has snored heavily since about 12 months, he is now 15 months. Sometimes he also coughs in his sleep. He sleeps a lot, like kid his age should, but he is generally a really happy kid and plays pretty hard so he doesn’t seem to be hurting for sleep. However, I have noticed lately he wakes up still seeming pretty tired for a 1/2 hour or so, and he frequently wakes briefly in the wee hours of the night, bawls for a minute and is back to sleep before I can check on him.
Oh, yeah he is prone to colds and allergies, had to have tubes at 7 months, he had awful recurring ear infections, he almost always has a runny nose-our pediatricians still disagree whether its allergies, some blame it all on daycare, but he has had a runny nose almost from day one. I suffer from allergies and we live in an area known for allergens.
He turned 15 months on March 27, and has 16 teeth, so if teething make your nose run, maybe thats a factor? I know there’s disagreement on that one, too. Oh, and he is tiny weight wise, average height but below the chart for weight, so its not a weight issue.
Sorry this is so long, just wondering if anyone had an experience with nsoring or sleep apnea in their little ones, what were the symptoms, outcomes, etc
He has his 15 month checkup in 11 days, so I am planning on addressing it with his pediatrician.
Thanks.
The tubes cleared up his ear infections, thankfully, but yes, he seems to have perpetual colds, even though he was breastfed the first year.
He doesn’t wake every night, but at least maybe 2X/week.

Thanks guys.
Since he already has an ENT for his ears, I went ahead and got an appointment for him tommorow with the specialist-I figured the doctor would just refer him so I’d skip the middle man!
I feel much better!

Last year May I was diag. with bacterial vaginosis and treated with a dose of 3 pills at one time. (I also had an abnormal pap & colposcopy which came out negative.) I did not feel right and went back recently. I was diag. with vaginosis again and was given Flagyl for 7 days. I saw my regular MD for the past month for other symptoms, after a urine test said I had a UTI and gave me a dose of Cipro (3 pills/3 days.) I have finished this dosing and still 2 weeks later know that I am not right. I am going to go back t the Gyn again for a 4th treatment. Before the summer I have never had anything like this not even a yeast infection.

I have been going to my MD for other symptoms such has palpitations, high blood pressure (145/100), dizzy spells, nausea spells, fatigue, headaches, ear infections, flushing, periods of low body temp (94 deg) and low pulse, night sweats, sleep apnea and brown spots on my back. Now Im just nervous that the bacterial vaginosis could be a sign something else??

I have been considering Nissen fundoplication surgery for my hiatal hernia, and would like to hear from people that have already had this done. I want to know, specifically, if this surgery improved any of the respitory conditions associated with GERD.

Also, will this place any restrictions on my pilot certificate?

Here is a crap load of background about me:

At one point I had done everything the doctor told me, including eliminating food from my diet that aggravates the condition, loosing weight until I was within the "healthy" parameters for my age/height/fitness, altered my sleep angle, and was on Nexium, Previcid, and Gaviscon. All of these actions helped the condition, but did not eliminate the symptoms. In fact, the symptoms were still so bad, that I gave up on the treatments.

I have been suffering from G.E.R.D. for my entire life, as I was born with a hiatus hernia. I also have hyperhydrochlorhydria, which aggravates the gastroesophageal reflux disease, as well as causing Gastritis and similar symptoms in the lower GI tract.

As well as the common symptoms of G.E.R.D., I have also been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis as a child, and then later diagnosed with asthma as an adult. (it is believed that G.E.R.D. can cause asthma)

The spasms in my stomach as well as the acid levels have been much higher lately due to some increased stress. These increases have led to Laryngopharyngeal reflux, which seems to be causing sleep apnea like symptoms.

Once I can aford health insurance, I’ll happily go through the same process where the physician and specialists tell me to change my diet, lose weight, take drugs, so on and so forth. Eventually, i will have exhausted all the non-surgical options, and I’ll probably opt for the surgery.
RE: Sandy

Acutally, yes, I do have discomfort in my ears, as well as (gag) a lot of wax!

I’ve actually had fifteen reoccuring ear infections, as well as some vertigo and swimmer’s ear. According to Wikipedia, this can be connected to the GERD and LPRD
I forgot to mention that I have the "lump" sensation associated with LPRD, as well as throat pain. I decided to add these details as others had commented that they have these symptoms. Although it is not relavent to my question, I feel these added details may help shed some light on their conditions.

Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastroesophageal_reflux_disease for GERD info, annd look for the links for LRPD and asthma

Well I've had medical problems for 4 years now, and it all started with sleep issues. Only 3 things have been actually diagnosed so far, and those are: hypoglycemia, mild obstructive sleep apnea, and general insomnia (idiopathic, basically they don't know the cause).

The only solutions they've offered over the years are pills and a few tests… The tests showed sleep problems and low blood sugar but the other blood tests came back okay. The urinalysis had 4 flagged parts but the doctor didn't say anything about it… weird.

Addiction runs in my family so I'm very against pills for that reason, and because I don't like being dependent on any chemical. I took sleeping pills for a while but abused them, and abused benzo's for anxiety, and stopped both. Now I take Adderall for ADD symptoms and fatigue (even though I never had attention problems as a kid) but I feel like it's too strong and hope to get off it soon.

Anyways, the symptoms are:

-Headaches everyday, usually dull but sometimes throbbing
-Insomnia, waking up at night, sleeping in 10-14 hours if I don't set the alarm, extreme difficulty waking up
-Fatigue; without Adderall I can barely function let alone get out of bed
-Joint pain in every joint, hypermobile joints (I've torn ligaments before and can bend most things very disgustingly)
-Somewhat fragile bones, I've broken many things from mild accidents
-Blood on the tissue when I blow my nose, and it's been getting more frequent and more blood recently
-Difficulty concentrating (I know I'm not ADHD, it just seems that way from being so tired)
-Ear aches, hearing a whining noise all the time, constant ear infections, pretty bad hearing
-Chronic sinus infections (every time I go see the doctor) and one side of my nose has been stuffed for a long time
-Getting sick all the time… And I really mean it, my friends say "dude you're ALWAYS sick with something"
-Heart palpitations (even when I'm not taking adderall)
-Stomach pain, and pain in other parts of the abdomen sometimes
-Blood in my stool
-I always feel like I have to pee, even after going to the bathroom
-Anxiety… but I did a pretty good job of counseling myself through this during my clonazepam withdrawals

So I went to my general practitioner a couple weeks ago, told him most of this stuff – and all he did was clean out my ears and refer me to a pediatric orthopedist… he thinks it's strange that I have pains all over (especially my back) and hypermobility, as well as many breaks and fractures. He mentioned a few diseases that you have from birth but don't show up until later in life, but said not to worry about it until the appointment….

The thing is, that orthopedist can definitely help with the joint stuff but EVERYTHING else will go untreated. I don't know what kind of doctor has experience in multiple fields…… Bottom line is, I'm sick of being so sick. I want things to go back to normal, and be healthy. I eat normally, try to stay on a good sleep cycle, exercise daily, take vitamins, and do whatever I can yet it's not too effective.

I'd also like to know if any of these symptoms could be from one thing, or just multiple coincidental things.

Sorry for the extremely long question but… this has been getting to me.

Thanks.
