I have these aches that are sometimes just dull but sometimes very sharp. The pain is constant and mostly on my left side. I have had it for around five years and the doctors have not figured it out yet. I also have unusual weight gain, as much as 30 pounds in less than two weeks. I have symptoms of being pre diabetic and poor blood circulation in one part of my heart that led to sleep apnea. I look up conditions but nothing concrete.
This has been going on for 6 months now when it happens it is her hands, feet and now her lips. She acts fine and is very active, i’ve been to the doctors multiple times and still i have no answers they have done an echo and blood work and the only thing they found out was that she has a small hole in her heart i guess it is the one that is most common and usually clears on its own…and they are telling me that it isn’t that i don’t know what to do i’ve been to one of the best hospitals in the area and no one can tell me what is wrong with her, they even did a sleep apnea test which turned out ok. It doesn’t happen all the time just randomly and mostly when she wakes up from a nap. can anyone help me figure this out i’m out of options and these doctors are treating me like i’m crazy.
So, my sister has recently complained about having irregular periods which she said started years ago but are becoming weirder and weirder. Our Dad died four years ago and both of our periods stopped (probably stress) mine is regular again, but hers is not. She’s 17 and weighs 223 pounds. (She doesn’t look like she should weigh nearly that much.) Anyways, she’s got a doctors appointment with our family doctor (a man) on January 7th, but wants to see an OBGYN. The catch is that she doesn’t want an internal exam, she refuses it. The point I’m getting at is this: Last night we researched possible diseases or infections she might have to cause this in her and we came up with polycystic ovary syndrome. It said that that also causes hirsutism (excess hair growth in women.) When we read this, my sister showed me her back and legs. She has thicker hair at the bottom of her back and on her thighs than she should. Her inner thighs are also a darker colour than normal. That’s another symptom of PCOS. So, we managed to come up with a probable diagnosis for her but now she has to see a doctor to find out for sure. She absolutely refuses to get an internal ANYTHING and she really doesn’t want to talk to our family doctor because he’s not a woman.
The websites we looked at said that low-dose birth control could easily solve this problem, so we thought maybe she could just request that? Or do you think she should express her concerns about PCOS to our doctor right away? Please help!
Other symptoms that she has included:
Acne
Sleep apnea
Decreased breast size
Excessive hair growth
Irregular periods
Increased muscle mass (like I said, she does NOT look like she weighs over 200 pounds.)
And more.
Please help!

My brother went for a doctors check-up today, and the doctor said he has to get a CAT scan, because his head is somewhat flat on the sides. He wanted to check for synostosis. I’m really scared. He was born premature. He has had developmental delays. (walking, talking, potty training). But isnt that common for preemies? I also heard that noisy breathing/sleep apnea is a symptom of pressure on the brain. The doctor pointed out today that he may have sleep apnea! How common is Craniosynostosis? Is it likely that he has it? Will he be able to get surgery if he does? I heard that it is usually done when the patient is a baby? How dangerous is it? Can someone have a slomewhat flat skull, and NOT have synostosis?
Thanks for all the help, i’m just really worried. I’m 14, by the way.
My father had a heart attack in feb due to complete blockage of his left ventricle he had stint placed. He also has sleep apnea and on bypap at night also COPD and congestive heart failure he now has acute respiratory failure and on oxygen at home. The doctors said that if he has another epidsode with not getting enough o2 they will place a ventilator he is at maximum treatment for his problems. Is there anyone else out there that knows or has this many health problems and if so what is on the road ahead of him so I can somewhat prepare. And is there any breakthrough treatments that anyone has read or heard about that may help him he is now a non-smoker has not smoked since feb,HIs last hospital stay he was in ICU his o2 level dropped to 38% so they put on bypap set at 40%. He is home now on nasal canula. along with many many medications he is only 56.Help I dont wanna lose my daddy

Question is stated above asking if there are any breakthrough things that have just came out and if anyone else had this or know someone with it. And what can I expect
I also have anxiety problems and I take zoloft. I wonder if that affects my sleeping. My father also has VERY bad sleep apnea. when the doctors watched him sleep he woke up 600 times and almost went into cardiac arrest twice. My symptoms are: staying awake at night, feeling of butterflies in my stomach, extreme sleepiness in the mornings, horrible and weird dreams, headaches often, getting flushed during the day, alot of other stuff! ahhh and i have really bad hearing. HELP!
I have sleep Apnea and my doctor recommended getting a surgery to basically hollow out my throat so i can breathe at night. the surgery is abbreviated UPPP. My friend, whos parents are doctors, does not think i shound get it because of risks and the fact i wld have to re-learn to swallow and that my voice may change? Is any of this reasonable? I dont want to be dependednt on a oxygen machine my whole life.
im not over weight, im 18 and pretty healthy. I am always tired though, hence my desire to get this fixed. the CPAP just seems like something that would wiegh me down at college next year. My doctor told me surgery would be good for someone my age. but im still nervous. I would also be getting a deviated septum fixed while I am at it to help with the breathing…
My dad, he’s in his early 50s, and i would say that he probably isn’t the healthiest one in the world. He has these following symtoms:
sour stomach and sour taste on his tongue, which the doctor says it’s acid reflux. They gave him acid reflux med.
Headaches that sometimes makes him throw up, but nothing really comes out, he says he just feels better when he lets the air out. ???
The doctor says it’s migrains.
tired during the day a lot, takes naps. i think it might be sleep apnea but he doesn’t believe me.
And now the doctor says he’s depressed and says his migranes are psychological because he’s to worried about things and he doesn’t have much of a social life.
If you have any idea what this might be, please let me know or if you might know someone who has this symptoms. We have been to so many doctors and they just don’t take us seriously.
He also is pretty lightheaded from all the med. that the doctor prescribes him but the doc says it’s psycological again.
I always felt very tired during the day. Imagine you being the doctor and you were ask me question on how I felt I would respond by saying my symptoms. My symptoms are excessive sleepiness during the day, feeling fatigue very weak and drowsy, always feeling the need to sleep, when doing activity immediately felt fatigue, 8 hours of sleep ended up with unrefreshed sleep then immediately felt fatigue, felt slow downed and sluggish, depression and anxiety, have the narcolepsy gene, but don’t have it, was diagnosed with sleep apnea and have insomnia.
In addition if you asked me what is my healthy lifestyle I would respond by, I eat 3 times a day with healthy food of vegetables and fruit, I exercise daily consisting of 30mins to 1 hour, and always think positive. But during that activity I felt very fatigue and can’t complete it. I no longer could complete the activity. I wasn’t like this before I remember the symptoms started in the year 2000 and still progresses. It appears that it has gotten worse. I already saw my doctors and it appears they cannot find the source of the problem, they did mention it could be other problems but unsure what it is. I know live in a stress free environment and I should be doing better, however; I am not and very concern about it. Who knows it can probably make me even more ill and can probably be life threatening. Anyone know what specialist I should be seeing and what tests are needed to be done to fix this problem? You can email me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Also to mention I was givin a sleep apnea machine and been using it since June 2007 until now and haven’t felt any difference, it appears that I still have the sickness, I was also given Provigil and been taking it. I have never missed a dose of it. Although it doesn’t have any effect on me. I notice 1 hour from taking the Provigil I immediately felt very tired and need to sleep followed by fatigue. I felt I should mention this cause it can probably help me find out what it is and to take care of it.
Well I do have sleep apnea, but it only happen during the sleep lab because they make you wear this vest to monitor your breathing and that caused it, but normally I don’t have it I had my family monitor me while I sleep. Like I said even with the machine I never felt relieved I wish I was. I also had insomnia now you can still get apnea though. Once your insomnia goes away you go to sleep and still can get apnea however I was told I was breathing fine without the machine. I am also shocked Provigil didn’t work so this couldn’t be sleep apnea for sure!
I also noticed that when I sleep I do sleep 8 hours uniterrupted if I did get interrupted probably 1 or 2 times, but I do noticed I wake up really early like 5AM and I would get up exercise to get me active, but then again followed by fatigue and need to sleep. I felt so weak that I can’t do normal activites no more and my mom was asking me why I don’t clean the house anymore and I told her I felt weak and sleepy. I know it isn’t laziness cause I never let my tasks fall behind I try to push myself to doing the activities, but it gets harder and harder. I feel like I am completely burnt out….
I feel physically and mentally fatigue and not sure what to do. I did see many doctors to help me resolve this and no results yet. I hope sooner or later I get back up and running again.
Yes I do eat fruits and vegetables lots of it 3 times a day. I even eat whole grain wheat bread and some protein from meat especially from beef I try to avoid turkey and such cause of that special proten tritophan or something that makes you drowsy. I do drink water at least 6 -8 glasses a day and I exercise 30mins to 1 hour a day, and I live in a low stressful environment, but even with that I feel fatigue, because I did come from a high stress environment back then but now I don’t have that stress problem anymore. But still suffer greatly from behing very drowsy and very fatigue. Is this the Epstein Barr Virus or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Maybe major depression or lethargy possibly mononucleius. Well I really don’t know and wish to get to the bottom of this.
Like I said in the previous posts I do use a CPAP Machine! However the cpap machine doesn’t relieve my symptoms nor does it decrease it. I had it since June 2007 until now and still used it, but I still feel very drowsy and very fatigue. VERY VERY Fatigue I mean so weak I can’t even do my normal activities no more.
I should also mention this too it probably can help out. I am a 21 year old Male that goes to CSUN.
I also did 3 type of tests and 2 of them were at the sleep clinic. The two tests were polysmnograph and the multiple latency tests. In the polysmnograph they found Sleep Apnea and periodic movement disorder, and in the MLT they didn’t find anything pecular. The third tests was a blood test called narcolepsy panel and I was found to have a gene of narcolepsy, but not a diagnosis of narcolepsy. I also had another blood test to see if I was iron deficient, but it proved to be fine.
I think I might have sleep apnea..i’m always tired and oversleeping and have constant mood swings are all theese signs of sleep apnea and I am overweight, please help out I dont have health ins and really cant afford a doctors visit
Because they don’t know the real reason why you can’t sleep. Or is it a big money maker somehow?
And yes I do know I snore. I was told that I do.
I am in no way saying there are no good ethical doctors. I know of many good ethical and caring doctors.
No I don’t believe I have this. I am just saying is that is medically a popular condition to test for. And sometimes when they don’t know the attribute the symptoms to apnea.
My mother was diagnosed as bipolar about 5 years ago, after I had been out of her home several years. Previous diagnoses include depression, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, hypothyroidism, chronic insomnia, sleep apnea & hypoglycemia. She has visited half a dozen doctors to get these diagnoses. She continually cycles through taking medicine from 1 doctor as prescribed, to taking medicine from several docs who do not know she is doctor shopping, to all-herbal(and I mean like, 20 – 30 different supplements a day), to no medicine.
With each new diagnosis/treatment, she seems to believe that she has turned a corner. If I try to talk to her about behaviors that seem harmful, she becomes too tearful and sleepy to talk. Recently, she has done some very hurtful things. I’m beyond trying to confront her about it.
Does anyone have a similar situation that turned out well? I keep hoping for the best, but her behavior gets more erratic and hurtful as time goes by.
I am 29 and have low thyroid, Sleep Apnea and now hypoglycemia too. Still tired – what is going on.?
Not sure if any of my history is related or not but:
WIth a history fo joint muscle pain undiagnosed since 18
I now since having children 3yrs ago have started to have major energy issues some days are fine others I go a week or two feeling tired all the time. Every time I go in they find something new as listed above. I have been diagnosed with all 3 diseases in the last 3 years and even with proper treatment am still have energy issues. I cant help but wonder that they are all related. Any Doctors out there who like to problem solve…I just cant believe I have 3 conditions that cause fatigue and am only 29 and healthy weight 5′8 145lbs and atop of all this am still not cured. I just want my energy so I can play with my girls. Im sick of it.
I am on an APAP and my leak rate is 0 and Im doing quite well with treatment.
My TSH levels are in the normal range – I have recently switched to another sciprt (Thyrolar) wich will treat my T3 and T4 indvidually vs treating the T3 to help the T4 to see if that helps with the fatigue and my levels were checked a few days ago no results yet but Im guessing theyll be normal since its the equivalent amount that I had for my Levoxyl.
Due to the fatigue seeming after I eat at times they did a fasting and reactive test which showed I was in the ? I thnk it was the 40s but after I ate my levels were fine (low 100s) Told me to eat protein with my carbs. However for instance when I ate today I felt exhausted and tested and was 163 – the rise bfore the fall Im guessing?
i think I may have it and had a sleep study done for sleep apnea which is totally different from my symptoms.
to ashbee, since i was 15 after a head trauma accident, i would wake up it didn’t matter what time of the day or night but i would be paralysed but awake eyes still closed and i would be hyperventilating but it would sound like i’m snoring but i wasn’t. I could hear everything around me but couldn’t move. I appreciate all responses.
no they didn’t pick it up on the sleep study so the doctor ruled out sleep apnea which i told him that it was the complete opposite but you know doctors have to rule out everything he even thought it was RLS.
Last week, the doctors found out that I have sleep apnea. They ordered a CPAP machine for me and I have been using it now for four nights. It seems to help me sleep longer, and my headaches went away. I must be sleeping better, but I still feel a little tired during the day. Does it take time to feel better? Or could it be that I am not getting enough pressure. Thank you for your answer.
I noticed when he was an infant that he stopped breathing regularly, and now they finally did a sleep test on him last night in the hospital. He had many episodes of apnea during the night.
hello.
this is a long story, but when my son was an infant he stopped breathing in my arms, and although I spoke to several Doctors nothing came of my inquiries as to what to do. My son repeatedly stops breathing every night and startles himself awake, or I, hard to describe it, I KNOW when he is having an episode, and if he is not sleeping with me, I am able to be with him and help him breathe again. 2 weeks ago after seeing a doctor I had not seen in about 2yrs (rotating doc at the clinic who set up the ENT/Pediatrician origianally after I expressed my concerns) was being thorough (thank God) and asked about the test results. I told him none were done. he immediately sent me back to the ENT who after ensuring my son was not suffering from a cold etc had my son admitted to the hospital for a sleep monitoring. Last night he had several apneas during the middle of the night (duh, I knew I was not being a hyper sensitive mother like I was made to feel when no followup was done
My daughter has been diagnosed with "Central Sleep Apnea", meaning she breeths normal when awake, but fails to breeth well when asleep. While sleeping her breething becomse very shallow, not enough to keep her oxygen level up. This causes numbness and eventually awakes her every hour or two.
My question is: Are there breething exercises, or natural ways to cure this condition other than just treating the symptoms with oxygen injection or a positiive pressure air machine. She doesn’t want to live with contraptions hooked to her the rest of her life. Any help would be much appreciated. The doctors we have taken her to only want to treat the symptom, not find the cause.
I suffer from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA.) and was using a CPAP machine, which works great. Now after a great deal of weight loss I am slowly trying the new SNORING SOLUTION https://snoringsolutionsite.com/
This procuct seems to work but the problem with me is that My sinius are often clogged. (It has been a problem since childhood and I have been on hundreds of meds and seen hundreds of doctors in my life for this "allergy" problem. aside from a daily saltwarter rinse….what else REALLY works to clear and keep clear one sinisus?
Some great answers here..! I really appericate them all. ….and when I said "Natural"….I guess I was partly thinking "inexpensive".
I think I have either one of these, possibly even both. I don’t know if i snore at night or the other things that can lead to Sleep Apnea. I know i wake up pretty much everyday with a soar throat and that is a symptom of sleep apnea. Also, the fact that no matter how much or how little sleep I get, I take numerous naps during the day. I mean like naps that can be 2, 3, or 4 hours of sleep. I feel tired all the time. It’s ruining me and upsets me because how is it possible for me to be this tired all the time?
Do you think I have sleep apnea? Hypersomnia? Both?
And as for making a doctors appointment, what do I say to them? I would feel dumb calling in and saying, "I want to make an appointment because I think I have Sleep apnea or Hypersomnia."
I know that’s a silly question, but thanks in advance for any input!
I already had a sleep study, and the doctors said I had apnea, but it was "central apnea." They said I would stop breathing 20+ times during the night. My follow-up MRI was normal. No brain injury, damage or tumor–glad to hear THAT! I am not overweight, and they told me a PPAP or other sleep machine would NOT help me. I would like to know more about "central sleep apnea."
I am not even completely sure this is the proper title…
However, I would like to know the proper titles for people who study sleep disorders, including Doctors and I would like to know what sort of requirements are nec. for that.
Thanks!
I have a REM STAR PRO I am currently using under a doctors prescription and need to set up a second machine for use at the fire station.
