medical history: anxiety, depression, and a car accident right before the throat condition developed which has lasted 2.5 years.

physical: in average shape with routine exercise. I dont drink enough liquids though

Tests done: sleep apnea test (results:negative)
x-ray (negative)
hernia test (negative)

Symptoms: It feels like i have something in my throat and its much worse at night when im sleeping. I constantly wake up with a super dry throat (not a sore throat). i need to drink water to clear it out yet ive never coughed anything up. Its getting to the point where its rather torturous in that i cant get a full nights sleep and no doctor seems to know what the issue is.

I have been told to see a chriopractor, a dentist, and drink more water yet Im wondering if anything can narrow the options for me

I have had mood swings (not to serious) difficulty consentrating, insomnia at night, restless sleeping, really tired during the day, surges of energy every now and again what could this be I have looked up sleep apnea but not many of the symptoms apply I have ahd this for over a year on and off and never told my mom because it wasn’t to serious I am almost 13 if that matter and I have my period ( this was going on before I started my period) Sorry for the guys u should be used to that kind of talk by now!
Thanks I would like some websites to but if u can’t just telling me what u think it just as good ")
OH and temperary depression I usually eat my way out of depression also

I have a CPAP machine and don’t use it cause I’m still tired after using it. It seems like I’m always making dumb mistakes on the job, I’m always feeling moody, I have no energy most of the time.

I get up at 3:30 on the weekdays and about 6 or 7 on the weekends. When I get enough sleep on the weekend I feel better, but then come Sunday night I toss and turn, sometimes the family keeps me awake when trying to sleep. I try to go to sleep around 8:30 at night but sometimes can’t.

I’ve also lived with depression most of my life and take anti depressants for about 5 years now. I’m really tired of this lifestyle and really want answers. Does anyone have this problem or know of anyone that does and is a constant struggle? Could I get disabiliy for this? Is there a doctor in the house? LOL.

I get dizziness, short term memory loss, disorganization and fatigue daily. I’m trying to figure out what is going on with me. I exercise regularly- except lately I have been feeling really run down, I eat well, drink water, take multi-vitamins, get enough rest, etc. When I get enough rest and I have slept well, I can still fall asleep easily! Like in a meeting at work, or while driving even, and I don’t snore or have sleep apnea. What the heck is wrong with me? I’m 5′3 and 150lbs, so I am not obese. Is it Anemia or low iron possibly?
if you tell me to ask a doctor right now, I won’t because I can’t afford a non-insurance doctor’s visit.
I should add… I had a partial thyroidectomy 3 years ago. I have had my thyroid and TSH levels tested recently. The results came back with normal level, 3.1–3.4 the last results I had just last year.
27 not pregnant/not possible.
I am not all that stressed, but I think I fight depression. The depression got better when I started exercising and I am to the point where I can run 5 miles three times a week, and bicycle 12 miles three times a week, also weight-lifting. I am just so sick of feeling like an air-head. lol
I had mono last June of 07, can’t be mono, I know what that feels like.

I have many symptoms of sleep apnea but my sleep study shows that it is not an issue. I am tired all the time, no energy or motivation. Depression and anxiety are a major problem. I wake up many times a night feeling like I cannot catch my breath, like my chest is very heavy and not getting enough air/oxygen. What other conditions could cause these symptoms?

Can depression or anxiety be caused by a sleep disorder (specifically Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorder) or is the sleep disorder caused by the depression and anxiety? Or can it be either?

I do not sleep at night (frequent awakenings, cannot fall or stay asleep) more than 1-2 hours. I was told that I have depression, SAD, cirrcadin sleep disorder, eating disorder and excessive daytime sleepiness. Two polysomnograms confirmed the sleepiness. After much research, I truly believe I have some type of narcolepsy with both primary and secondary symptoms i.e. fall asleep during classes, have to sleep in my car between classes, hallucinations, memory loss and a close relative who does have it. Any ideas as to what or where I should go to be effectively diagnosed with anything at this point in time.

I quit breathing over 200 times in a 8 hour night ( they had all kind of sensers hooked on me). i don’t remember waking up, but it was easy to see on the readout this morning.( and video/ audio tape) Anyway, i have to go back and sleep there tonight with a C.P.A.P. machine ( i will have to sleep with it every night)
That explaines the cronic fatigue, and memory loss, over the past few years, also depression and irratabilaty. I’m really excited, finally some answers as to why i feel like %$^# all the time.
I lost a couple of good jobs, and a 16 year marraige because of this. well i’m glad the marriage is over, but i’m sure going to miss those jobs

I always felt very tired during the day. Imagine you being the doctor and you were ask me question on how I felt I would respond by saying my symptoms. My symptoms are excessive sleepiness during the day, feeling fatigue very weak and drowsy, always feeling the need to sleep, when doing activity immediately felt fatigue, 8 hours of sleep ended up with unrefreshed sleep then immediately felt fatigue, felt slow downed and sluggish, depression and anxiety, have the narcolepsy gene, but don’t have it, was diagnosed with sleep apnea and have insomnia.
In addition if you asked me what is my healthy lifestyle I would respond by, I eat 3 times a day with healthy food of vegetables and fruit, I exercise daily consisting of 30mins to 1 hour, and always think positive. But during that activity I felt very fatigue and can’t complete it. I no longer could complete the activity. I wasn’t like this before I remember the symptoms started in the year 2000 and still progresses. It appears that it has gotten worse. I already saw my doctors and it appears they cannot find the source of the problem, they did mention it could be other problems but unsure what it is. I know live in a stress free environment and I should be doing better, however; I am not and very concern about it. Who knows it can probably make me even more ill and can probably be life threatening. Anyone know what specialist I should be seeing and what tests are needed to be done to fix this problem? You can email me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Also to mention I was givin a sleep apnea machine and been using it since June 2007 until now and haven’t felt any difference, it appears that I still have the sickness, I was also given Provigil and been taking it. I have never missed a dose of it. Although it doesn’t have any effect on me. I notice 1 hour from taking the Provigil I immediately felt very tired and need to sleep followed by fatigue. I felt I should mention this cause it can probably help me find out what it is and to take care of it.
Well I do have sleep apnea, but it only happen during the sleep lab because they make you wear this vest to monitor your breathing and that caused it, but normally I don’t have it I had my family monitor me while I sleep. Like I said even with the machine I never felt relieved I wish I was. I also had insomnia now you can still get apnea though. Once your insomnia goes away you go to sleep and still can get apnea however I was told I was breathing fine without the machine. I am also shocked Provigil didn’t work so this couldn’t be sleep apnea for sure!
I also noticed that when I sleep I do sleep 8 hours uniterrupted if I did get interrupted probably 1 or 2 times, but I do noticed I wake up really early like 5AM and I would get up exercise to get me active, but then again followed by fatigue and need to sleep. I felt so weak that I can’t do normal activites no more and my mom was asking me why I don’t clean the house anymore and I told her I felt weak and sleepy. I know it isn’t laziness cause I never let my tasks fall behind I try to push myself to doing the activities, but it gets harder and harder. I feel like I am completely burnt out….
I feel physically and mentally fatigue and not sure what to do. I did see many doctors to help me resolve this and no results yet. I hope sooner or later I get back up and running again.
Yes I do eat fruits and vegetables lots of it 3 times a day. I even eat whole grain wheat bread and some protein from meat especially from beef I try to avoid turkey and such cause of that special proten tritophan or something that makes you drowsy. I do drink water at least 6 -8 glasses a day and I exercise 30mins to 1 hour a day, and I live in a low stressful environment, but even with that I feel fatigue, because I did come from a high stress environment back then but now I don’t have that stress problem anymore. But still suffer greatly from behing very drowsy and very fatigue. Is this the Epstein Barr Virus or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Maybe major depression or lethargy possibly mononucleius. Well I really don’t know and wish to get to the bottom of this.
Like I said in the previous posts I do use a CPAP Machine! However the cpap machine doesn’t relieve my symptoms nor does it decrease it. I had it since June 2007 until now and still used it, but I still feel very drowsy and very fatigue. VERY VERY Fatigue I mean so weak I can’t even do my normal activities no more.
I should also mention this too it probably can help out. I am a 21 year old Male that goes to CSUN.
I also did 3 type of tests and 2 of them were at the sleep clinic. The two tests were polysmnograph and the multiple latency tests. In the polysmnograph they found Sleep Apnea and periodic movement disorder, and in the MLT they didn’t find anything pecular. The third tests was a blood test called narcolepsy panel and I was found to have a gene of narcolepsy, but not a diagnosis of narcolepsy. I also had another blood test to see if I was iron deficient, but it proved to be fine.

My mother was diagnosed as bipolar about 5 years ago, after I had been out of her home several years. Previous diagnoses include depression, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, hypothyroidism, chronic insomnia, sleep apnea & hypoglycemia. She has visited half a dozen doctors to get these diagnoses. She continually cycles through taking medicine from 1 doctor as prescribed, to taking medicine from several docs who do not know she is doctor shopping, to all-herbal(and I mean like, 20 – 30 different supplements a day), to no medicine.
With each new diagnosis/treatment, she seems to believe that she has turned a corner. If I try to talk to her about behaviors that seem harmful, she becomes too tearful and sleepy to talk. Recently, she has done some very hurtful things. I’m beyond trying to confront her about it.
Does anyone have a similar situation that turned out well? I keep hoping for the best, but her behavior gets more erratic and hurtful as time goes by.

I am 43 year old male, and am feeling overall poorly. I am strong and all that, but I just feel weak and tired, and I have difficulty getting good sleep. I recently was diagnosed with sleep apnea and am using the CPAP machine, but I still wake up tired and cant maintain my sleep through the night. I still drag through the day with tiredness, weakness, and depression. A friend suggested a series of tests his naturepathic doctor took him through including hormone levels check, hair, and spittle test…but he didnt know what the other tests available to determine chemistry and nutritional deficiencys might be. Wondering if anyone could advise me on what tests to have my doctor adminster.

He falls asleep standing up even after a full nights rest, and he sleeps all night and most of the day and still falls asleep while talking to you. We are seeing a doctor next week but I was wondering if it might be depression. Any thoughts?

My husband has Sleep Apnea and depression. Both have caused weight gain and both are made worse by weight gain. Every doctor he has seen in the past year has told him to get gastric-bypass (weightloss) surgery. He is non compliant with his sleep apnea treatment and is not only retaining fluid but one of his calves is swollen as big as his thigh. Because of the depression and lack of restfull sleep at night he is tired all the time. He will nod off during a conversation. The excess fluid and weight are taking a toll on his knees. He is barely able to walk and uses the scooter stores provide if we have to go out shopping. To top it off he has lost his job and insurance. How do I get him to comply. I can’t go to the appointments he has to attend prior to surgery for him. I am doubly frustrated because coincidentally, my mother had similar health issues. She was non compliant and died. We have two young children. Do I push him or do I just watch him die?

Recently I’ve noticed that I seem to be always tired, which makes it very hard to focus. I discovered this because I need to stay focused at my new job. I get up at the same time everyday, around 8 am, and no matter what kind of sleep I get I seem to feel tired more often then not. It’s not every single day I feel this way, just a majority of them. Always feeling tired like this affects my mind as it makes it cloudy and I have problems focusing and remembering simple things even short term things. Recently I’ve been sweating a lot while sleeping as well even though I always have the air conditioning on. I don’t seem to snore though which makes me feel as though it isn’t sleep apnea. Feeling this way also makes me very irritable during the day, which I always blamed on feeling tired. Another detail to note is that I’m not obese. I do get between 7-8 hours of sleep everynight and sometimes more on the weekends. What leads me to think it could be depression is that too much sleep can be one of the symptoms which on weekends if I dont force myself to get up I will remain in bed sleeping and feeling tired. Sometimes I do feel depressed it mainly happens at night when Im alone. I try to push these feelings aside and distract myself with tv or a game. These symptoms are found in both depression and sleep apnea. I want to be able to think clearly and not feel tired all the time. What could it be? Is it possible its all in my head?

my therapist and family doctor want me to have a sleep study done during my winter break from school.. i’ve always had trouble sleeping but why should a sleep study be done
i did have depression, i keep going to my therapist to prevent any relapse. and my dad has sleep apnea is it genetic?

for 15 years i have suffered from depression and now i am suffering from generalized anxiety disorder and go threw my day 2 day life with fear, worry, aggitation and nervousness!, i worry about my health alot especially my heart but i have been checked out and there is nothing wrong with my heart but i worry all the time about death and when i heard about sleep apnea, i began to think that i have it cause of the symptoms like feeling tired during the day and can’t concentrate properly as i can’t sleep at night thinking and worrying about death, and i worry about that if i sleep i might not wake up but i have read what sleep apnea does during my sleep, like gasping for breath during the night or snoring loudly but i never have problems like gasping for breath, i sleep pretty well but only wake up if i have bad dreams and sometimes have hallucinations, this has been happening for over 6 months now and i feel tired all the time and i keep thinking that i have sleep apnea disorder but i don’t wake up during the night gasping for breath and my friends tell me that i talk in my sleep but never said i snore loudly, so what could this be, is it my worry with anxiety?, could someone have the answer to this please!

I was wondering what some of the psychological effects of a sleep apnea is? I haven’t had the test done to see if I in fact have a sleep apnea, but are these symptoms a possibility of a Sleep Apnea?

-Tired ALL day every day
-Headaches
-Very tired in the morning, as if I didn’t sleep at all
-Anxiety/depression
-Feeling sick all the time
-Worrying about my health all the time
-Wake up extremely thirsty
-Chest or abdominal pains
-Paranoia to a certain extent
-Urinating a lot at night/morning

Anything else to suggest this? Also, what does a Sleep Apnea test consist of?

Thank you

20 years old… I am having a sleep study at the end of the month and my doctor is pretty sure I have sleep Apnea, as I am tired all the time and snore really badly. But for the past 4-5 years Ive been experiencing really bad depression and anxiety. This past year has been the worse, as I moved to a new state and my anxiety has turned into what might be social anxiety. I feel nervous and paranoid around people. Always thinking they don’t like me and that they are talking bad about me. Do you think the sleep apnea could have caused this, as I’ve had this sleep problem since I was a child.

I have been on one many years but he ordered setting 16 and the machine only went to 15..just got a new machine that goes to 20..company suggested I try 17 (as I was apparently still snoring even with cpap on) and go up in increments of 20 to see if it helps.

I have all the symptoms of sleep apnea (depression, memory loss, lack of concentration, no energy, always tired) except for morning headaches despite using cpap (at the setting 15).

I am wondering what effects will I immediately notice or notice with time if it is helping. He said his brother lost 60 pounds, is this because of more energy??

Please answer if you have any answers as I am most anxious to know if I am better after about 15 years on cpap with little benefit. I just used lst night for the 1st time, but don’t feel that different (although I did dream).

thanks
that last sentence should read anxious tio know if I will get better not if I am better

I've been officially diagnosed with sleep apnea in the mild to moderate range. I also suffer from depression (probably sleep deprivation induced) and insomnia (late to bed/early to rise). I sleep for between 3 to 5 hours a night. Obviously this isn't enough sleep.

I've tried CPAP, but can't get used to it, mainly due to my problems with insomnia (my mind has trouble being "quiet"). I have a hard time sleeping without the distraction of a CPAP, and WITH it…. it's impossible for me to sleep. I litterally just DON'T SLEEP with it on. I've been trying for 2 months (seriously).

I know there are dental devices that relocate your jaw and tounge, but I seem to have problems mainly with my "soft palette". I notice that if I breath through my mouth, it's impossible for it to close off. SO, I was wondering if anyone uses or knows of a dental device that would have holes in it to allow you to breath through your mouth at night? Something like a mouth guard with a tube coming out… THANKS!
