Why is my stomach filling with air?
I have Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and I have to sleep with a Bi-PAP machine. It doesn’t happen all the time, but on occasion I wake up belching alot with a stomach full of air.

I just started recently, in the last month it has happened about 3 times. I dont have insurrance that would cover this for going to the doctor so i want that to be a last resort. I am a heavier set male, and my first thought was diabites but i have not had any other symptoms. Also, i was diagonosed with sleep apnea, but i never was able to get the machine for it. I also have been dealing with alot of congestion and difficulty breathing during the day….like i said any suggestions with out having to see a doc. would be good. Thanks,
Tom
I do have insurance it just doesn’t cover things like this…
Hi. I’m a 16 year old male. Im around 6’1 and weigh around 220 lbs. Recently I came across a video that shows you how to go into sleep paralysis or something like that..where you basically let your body fall asleep while your mind is awake. He briefly stated that this is a way to find out if you have sleep apnea.
So I tried the method he suggested and what I noticed is was when I was in this state..I would stop breathing (which is what he described sleep apnea to be) and not notice for around 5 seconds in which I would realize that I wasn’t breathing.
I wasn’t sure if I was just making stuff up in my mind so I looked further into sleep apnea. After reading the symptons it really started to get me thinking that i might suffer sleep apnea..
Im always tired in the day. Even if I go to bed at around 10 PM and wake up at 6AM (8 hrs rest..that seems good) i feel pretty tired..usualy throughout the whole day. Also I read that it occurs more to overweight people (I am some overweight, not obese though).
the website which i got the information from was http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/SleepApnea/SleepApnea_WhatIs.html
Do you think it is possible for me to have sleep apnea? alot of these symptoms sound similar to mine..yet i don’t think i snore too much (which seems to be a big one)
I also have anxiety problems and I take zoloft. I wonder if that affects my sleeping. My father also has VERY bad sleep apnea. when the doctors watched him sleep he woke up 600 times and almost went into cardiac arrest twice. My symptoms are: staying awake at night, feeling of butterflies in my stomach, extreme sleepiness in the mornings, horrible and weird dreams, headaches often, getting flushed during the day, alot of other stuff! ahhh and i have really bad hearing. HELP!
i had apnea of infancy when i was first born and was in the hospital for 3 months. after that i slept on an inclined bed with a monitor for a year. im 22 now and i have always talked and walked in my sleep but it is hard for my bf to sleep with me yelling profanities and screaming. i was wondering if anyone knew if there is a link between the infancy problem and now. I also jerk alot in my sleep and sometimes wake up because i "forget" to breathe. my bf says i talk a few times a night. I just want to know if anyone has any things in common and what the treatments would be
He works days, 6am- 4 pm. Has sleep apnea. I work nights, 4.30pm- 11 pm. I am insomniac. How do we get over these fights??
I get upset cause i dont want him takeing so many naps, not only cause i am coinvinced that it makes his condition worse, but clearly we hardly ever see each other. I wish that instead of wanting to take a nap in ever free second he has that we could atleast do something together. Also i bitch cause i wish he would stay up later on weekends,….he wants to go to sleep at 10.30 pm like a usual work night, but then sleeps till 12.30 pm in the afternoon.
He gets mad cause i come home from work, stay up till 2-3am and then eventually with time fall asleep. I never take naps, get up around 10.30 am usually with the kids etc….
HOw can we both be happy and get over this butting heads conditions of ours?? It really does start alot of fights. I wish we could find a solution! Any help, or ppl in the same position?
O.k. you guys make me sound like a completely clueless wife. Like i dont know what sleep apnea is, geeze, i am married to the guy. I am not retarded. He does have a Cpap machine, but he doesnt use it. Plus he smokes like a chimney. So before you think its all me and i should lay off,….realize thats not the case. So to make it more obvious to everyone else:
Yes i know what sleep apnea is, i am the one who told him about it!
Yes i know nagging doesnt help, but i also read that 7 hours or so of sleep on the machine minus daily naps will be better for him in the long run….Anyways just thought i would clear that up. I am not stupid i know what the condidtion is….better then he does actually. Like i said, i had to coinvince him for two years to go to the Dr.
