Sleep study?
Anyone ever went for a sleep study? I have to go for one because i have sleep paralysis, wake up gasping and have troubles stay9ing a sleep. My doctor thinks i have obstructive sleep apnea. Is it horribly uncomfortable getting it done? Like could you sleep with all of those electrodes attached to you?

Everyone anticipates that it will be much worse than it really is. You will be able to sleep just fine with the electrodes on. If you do have any troubles getting to sleep they can give you something like lunesta or ambien to help. You will be hooked up to about 18 different wires and it takes the technologist about 30 minutes to get all of them on and then you can relax and get some rest. Thats really all there is to it. It takes about 5 min to take them off in the morning. Dont worry you will be just fine. Good luck
Don't fret about it because it might just save your life. They will just monitor you while you sleep.
Did mine at home. Sent machines home told me how to hook up. it not to bad.
Looking at pictures can definitely cause some anxiety, but it really is not as bad as you may be thinking.
Once all of the equipment is on, you should be able to sleep in any position that you find comfortable. In our lab, you are able to read or watch tv until you are tired and to get used to the equipment. Generally speaking, people do not have problems falling asleep.
If you are worried about being able to fall asleep, consider restricting your sleep a little bit the night before, refrain from taking any naps and refrain from using any stimulants throughout the day. Also, mention your anxiety to your doctor. He or she may be able to prescribe a sleep aid and may be able to offer you some comfort.
