sleep apnea/c-pap?
i’ve just been diagnosed with sleep apnea and have used the c-pap machine for 2nights. i think it’s going to help, but i have a rash on the bridge of my nose and on my face where the mask sits. anyone else have this problem? any suggestions? i have washed the mask in mild soap and rinsed it well.
my mask fits over my nose only

Talk to the company that you got your mask from. There may be other options. My father has sleep apnea and because of his sensitive skin (and the fact that he dislikes anything on his face) he went with nasal pillows rather than a mask. It sits inside of your nose and some people find it more comfortable. Here’s an image.

maybe try some baby powder, but not too much as to result in a poor seal.
At the hospital we used to put a small 2×2 guaze pad on the bridge of the nose to keep it from rubbing. If it around the mouth and nose it sounds like you may be a little sensitive to the mask. I would suggest talking to the company who provided the c-pap and ask them if they have masks for sensitive skin. Possibly non-latex if it is latex. Good luck!
P.S. be very careful if you try powders as u don’t want any of it forced into your lungs.
My husband was also diagnosed with sleep apnea. He tried the c-pap machine in the sleep lab and found it too cumbersome for restful sleep. After some investigation, he decided on surgery to remove the (I can’t remember the medical term) thing that hangs down in the back of the mouth. It was performed as outpatient surgery and he recovered quickly. There are really no ill-effects from having it removed other than he must not drink anything too fast. He has stopped snoring and the sleep apnea is completely gone.
You might want to investigate this option. It will take away your dependency on a machine and make your sleep much more restful. Good luck.
My experience sleep apnea comes from being overweight.
I had that for some time and many nights i could not sleep.
One time i took an operation to repair a broken hand, and when i was put on the operating table i laid my head on the
pillow and the nurse told me to lift my head and she placed
the pillow right under my shoulders where my breathing would
always be perfect.Sleep apnea can also come bad sinuses
but with the pillow under ur shoulders u will have ur airways
perfectly open at all times. If u do this that will eliminate a real problem, possibly ur getting a stroke while u r asleep
I use a c-pap as well, however mine fits inside the nose just like a oxygen canuala would. I cant tolerate anything over my mouth or nose so i use the nasal c-pap attachments, and it works great. ask your doc. or the company you got it from.
my hubby had the same problem and more he used it the less redness he he had. sometimes it may make his nose sore but not like it did. and if you keep haveing problems try to get a different mask. my hubby went threw several before he foun done he liked. try the one that just sets in ur nose instead of covering ur face or nose.but i think more you wear it teh better it will be
