Sleep Apnea? Asthma? What?
I’ve noticed I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately. Mainly what is bothering me is that I was trying to fall asleep the other night and it was like I would stop breathing and wake myself up. As I’m sitting here typing this my chest feels tight and I feel like I’m taking very long pauses between inhalation and exhalation. It doesn’t feel normal.
I’m not sure if I have sleep apnea. I will need to get to a doctor to find out, which really sucks when you have no insurance and little income.
My mother has asthma so I guess it could be possible for me to have that.
I’m just wondering from people who have Sleep Apnea, Asthma, or any other respiratory conditions, what do they feel like? What kinds of things is your body going through? How has treatment improved your life?

It’s allergy season. So if you’re just now noticing it, the season change could be the answer. If you’re just having discomfort then you can do some simple and cheap things to make life easier for yourself and maybe save money by not spending it on a doctor.
1. quit smoking and do all you can to not be subjected to secondhand smoke or vehicle exhausts, etc.
2. vacuum your house completely. even the curtains, pillows, mattresses, etc.
3. change furnace filters often and vacuum the dust
4. check your home for mold or damp areas and use a dehumidifier and disinfect by using bleach to kill growth.
5. make sure you don’t have critters living in your home such as mice or roaches because breathing or contact with their feces or other droppings is harmful to humans.
6. change your vacuum bags frequently and keep it clean, too.
7. clear your home of clutter and places for dust to accumulate or places for critters to hide.
8. if you have pets you’ll have to clean more often to rid your home of dander and shedding hair
9. make your bedroom as serene and quiet as possible by removing the tv, phone, cell phone, etc, use room darkening shades and buy comfortable pillows and pretty things for the room that make you happy
If these simple things don’t help you then you should see your doctor. Some people who never had allergies can have them as they get older.
I’ve been tested for sleep apnea and sleep problems, but found that doing these things helped me. That’s not to say it isn’t your problem, but sometimes it’s the simple answer that is best.
If you smoke, stop. Don’t sleep on your back. Put chest rub on your feet and then put sox on. They’ll all help.
But you could also have a chest infection.
it is most likely Sleep Apnea. When you are sleeping your body will stop breathing for upwards of 10 seconds which often leads to a bad night sleep, because your body has to work so hard to catch every breath it can.
I’m just wondering how many are aware of "NASA’s Clean Air Plant Study" completed several years ago?
"Common indoor plants may provide a valuable weapon in the fight against rising levels of indoor air pollution. Those plants in your office or home are not only decorative, but NASA scientists are finding them to be surprisingly useful in absorbing potentially harmful gases and cleaning the air inside modern buildings."
"NASA research has consistently shown that living, green and flowering plants can remove several toxic chemicals from the air in building interiors. You can use plants in your home or office to improve the quality of the air to make it a more pleasant place to live and work – where people feel better, perform better, any enjoy life more."

OMG, me too! I have asthma, and just lately, I can’t sleep.
It’s probably just the season is changing. It might have to do with how cold it’s starting to get. There are some nights where I flat-out cannot sleep.
I’ve needed to take some of those Tylenol Simply Sleep pills to get some sleep.
