Sleep Apnea?
I think I might have sleep apnea..A little while ago i jolted out of bed gasping for air. I had no idea what was going on and why i had just flung myself into the wall. My heart was pounding, my hands were shaking and it was really scary. It’s happened before, but this time was really bad. Like im too scared to go back to sleep. Does anyone have sleep apnea? What happens when you go to the doctor for it?

Sleep apnea is a disorder in which the airway becomes obstructed by relaxed tissues of the soft palate. Your doctor will order a sleep study and you will go to a local center to be observed while you sleep. You will be hooked up to a multitude of monitoring devices that will measure all of your vital signs, especially your breathing and oxygen saturation. The test will determine whether or not your airway becomes obstructed when you are asleep, how often you stop breathing and for how long.
Treatment options include a CPAP machine to keep the airway open while you sleep or surgery to reduce the amount of tissue to block your airway. Good Luck
that happened to me often.. like someone is sitting on my chest and i cant get up to get air… It started when i started to smoke…The doctors first questions was do i smoke? and i could not believe it.. 1 a month this happens to me and i still cant quit smoking
You might have just had a bad dream pet, but if it happens another few times then you should go and see the doctor.
There’s not much they can do for you except tell you to get an oxygen mask or nasal connection and sleep with oxygen going all night. The other thing they tell patients to do is to sew a pocket into the back of your PJ’s and put a tennis ball in the pocket. This stops the person from sleeping on their back and stops guys from snoring. Did you know you shouldn’t drive in the afternoons if you suffer from sleep apnoea, because you are more prone to have an accident than anyone else, as you have what they call mini naps and fall asleep at the wheel.
