Is it possible to receive SSI benefits for REM sleep disorder?
I’ve been known to run full out into walls when I’m asleep and even kickbox like I used to be able to in my twenties. On many occasions I’ve needed medical attention. I never awaken feeling rested and sometimes wake up with cuts, bruises and spinal injuries.

You should ask your doctor about his. It is hard to get SSI at all, and about 80% of applicants are turned down right away anyways. Right now it takes about 2 years at least to get an application read, so then after they might deny your claim, you can fight it which takes even longer. If you are thinking about applying then talk to you doctor and see how much medical evidence you have to help your claim and see if you think it’s worth the wait or if you’d rather spend the time trying to fix or treat your condition.
Do you mean social security disability? Probably not…
SSI is based on income among other things…
I am not sure here, but I think you would have to prove that it interfers with your ability to hold down a job.
You really should just apply for Social Security.
Yes- medical records will be viewed by Social Security to see if you fit into one of the categories at: socialsecurity.gov
Yes- most people fight for years but i know 2 people that applied & recieved thiers within 6 months.
If you are approved – they will "backpay" you from when you applied thus sending you a couple thousand dollars at once & then the regular disability check starts coming. Check out the website.
Good luck.
