is it normal for a 2 month old to snore?
my 2 month old snores during sleep. it sounds like a congested raspy snore. almost like she has lots of mucus in her chest. i ased her doctor and she said she was fine. but i looked up snoring on line and found that snoring is the #1 symptom for sleep apnea which could be deadly. do any of you have babies that snore and this is perfectly fine? or are familiar with sleep apnea and have any advice?

My son has had this very low, quiet, raspy snore since he was born – he is now 7 and has had no health problems connected to snoring. The Pediatrician said that it is perfectly normal and to just pay attention that there are no changes i.e. struggling to breathe, congestion, or changes in the sound or increase in volume. If you are still uneasy, get a 2nd medical opinion (NOT on yahoo Q&A). Do you have a baby monitor?
heheh, My son snores always has he’s 2 now, and he’s perfectly fine, comes from mamma and daddy who snores lol, If your doctor sais its okay, Im sure its okay hon!!
use that little squeezy rubber ball thing to get the gunk out of her nose.
Dont worry. Most likely your little baby has a totally common sound coming out of it.. I used to call it the snurgle-gurgle.. If you are really concerned of course, call the doc. But in healthy full term babies.. it’s one of many fun quirks to make your heart race that they don’t tell you about.
As mentioned it may be congestion, try the squeeze bulb.
My Son was a fatty when he was a baby (Just baby fat), 9lbs. 15 ozs. when born. He would start snoring and I just reposition him and he get quite.
my daughter does that, she has snored since birth. her doctor thinks she has narrow nasal passages. shes ok but has a hard tme if she gets a cold. i’m the same way and don’t have sleep apnea. we’re just keeping an eye on it. be sure to have a hospital grade nose sucking bulb around and always lay him n his back to sleep. you can also get a second opinion, you are entitled to do whatever you think is best for your child. if you are really worried you can get one of those crib pads that detects movement. if baby stops breathing or moving itll set off an alarm. normal deep sleep won’t set off the alarm because breathing is movement. i think they’re about $100
My son is almost 7 and snores since I can remember. He’s fixin to get his tonsils taken out. they were real large and causing him this problem. Snoring kids in my experience have problems with bed wetting.
I used to lay there listening to the baby monitor all night long. That child of mine would SNORE!!!! My doctor told me to relax and turn the monitor down. He was right. He is now 2 and no longer snores. You are just being a good momma!!
My son is 5 months and he has been snoring for a few months too. I noticed he usually does it when his head is turned to the side and he is slouched over in his car seat.
Yes. My son does that to and his Doc. also said he was fine.
sleep apnea is a very delicate subject. My daughter does NOT suffer from it, but I do hear a little snore every now and then out of her. However, with a medical issue I would ALWAYS ask a medical doctor. If you feel you havent gotten the right answer, you have every right to go to another dr. and ask them. After all it’s for you child! :)
