How do I confront my dad about this problem?
I believe my dad has sleep apnea, because he is always snoring and and often sleepy during the day, the two major symptoms of this disease. I know if I tell him this, he will take it jokingly and lightly, when I want him to take it seriously, as it can be very dangerous. (Sleep apnea is when, although the person sleeping may be unaware of it, he or she actually stops breathing while sleeping, and it can be fatal if the breath is held for too long.) How can I tell him to see a doctor?

Does he have high blood pressure? Studies have shown that sleep apnea worsens high blood pressure and can actually cause strokes during the night when the apnea is bad. Here’s what I would do if I were you…. Sit down with him and tell him that you have something very serious to discuss with him. Show him that you’re very serious and concerned before you bring up the subject of his apnea. Tell him how much you love him and that you want him around for the future. Then tell him that you’re concerned about the apnea and ask him to see a sleep specialist, as a favor to you. If he tries to make it out like it’s nothing, tell him that if he sees a specialist, you’ll drop the subject. Also, do some research on-line and ask him to look at what you’ve found. Good luck!
Show him this question.
you might do some research online, print it out and give it to him….tell him you are serious and concerned for his health. After that, it’s up to him, he is free and over 21 and ultimately he decides about his own health.
Tell him you love him and dont want to see him die. You are concerned about him, and his sleep apnea. Tell him that you would like him to see a doctor for it. If he refuses, put your foot down and tell him that you will make the appointment for him, and take him.
If neither of those work, try to think of something that will pull at his heart (i.e. you crying), and use that to try and get him to go.
Be submisive and convey your problem?
