HELP ME!! My husband has sleep apnea and it drives me crazy in the night!?
My husband has sleep apnea…very badly. His snoring is out of this world LOUD. He’s seen a sleep doctor and has a breathing machine he must wear at night. I know this is uncomfortable for him to wear and a lot of times he doesn’t. So, I’m listening to him snore and getting mad at him for my loss of sleep! Now, I feel really bad for him that he has this condition and has to wear the mask at night. But when he doesn’t wear it he hacks and coughs for hours after he wakes up. It’s not completely selfish of me because I hate to see him suffering like that in the morning. I just am at my wits end. I feel like I’m being mean and nagging when I ask him to wear it and when he doesn’t I ask him to sleep in the other room. What should I do???

First of all I am 60 years old and my wife literally saved my life by MAKING ME SEEK PROPER TREATMENT FOR SLEEP APNEA! AND FOLLOWING THE DOCTOR’S ORDERS PERIOD!
THE MACHINE WILL DO HIM NO GOOD SITTING BESIDE THE BED! IF IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE THERE ARE NUMEROUS FACE MASK AND NOSE PIECES THAT CAN BE FITTED TO ACCOMODATE HIM! YOU SHOULD BE SLEEPING WITH THE HUM OF A SMALL MOTOR!
THE MACHINE GETS SOME " GETTING USED TOO" BUT IT SHOULD BE OVER WITHIN A MONTH AT THE ABSOLUTE LATEST! THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO TAKE THE FACE GEAR OFF DURING THE NIGHT AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS PERIOD.
MY WIFE SLEEPS LIKE A LOG AT NIGHT! SERIOUSLY RIGHT NOW WE ARE RECOVERING FROM HURRICANE KATRINA IF WE EVER REBUILD THE HOUSE PROPERLY AND GET THINGS BACK, I AM GOING TO SEE IF I CAN GET HER INTO THE SLEEP LAB AT LEAST FOR ONE NIGHT STUDY! I THINK IT WOULD HELP HER!
THIS MACHINE IS A WONDERFUL THING! BUT IT WILL NOT WORK IF I DO NOT USE IT! I FEEL OVER 40 YEARS YOUNGER AND I HAVE INCIDENTIALLY LOST OVER 50 POUNDS IN WEIGHT FROM LIFE STYLE CHANGES!
MY MEDICINE IS JUST AIR! I REALLY FEEL SO MUCH BETTER! GET HIM USING THE MACHINE EVERY NIGHT! COMMAND HIM TO! NOT ONLY FOR YOUR HEALTH BUT MAINLY FOR HIM!!!
IF HE USES IT I SWEAR HE WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH THE RESULTS !
BUT YOU HAVE TO USE IT!
IT WILL IMPROVE HIS WHOLE CONDITION OF LIFE!
THIS I PROMISE , AND IT WILL DEFINITELY IMPROVE YOURS!
NOW I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT HIS LOVE LIFE BUT IT IMPROVED MINE UNBELIEVEABLE, I HAVE AN EXTREMELY SATISFIED WIFE!
GET THE MACHINE WORKING , STAY IN THE SAME ROOM, IT ONLY HAS BEGUN ! THIS I PROMISE!
AGAIN THEIR ARE NUMEROUS NOSE PIECES THAT ARE SMALL AND ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE! PLEASE GET THAT THING GOING!
PLEASE ! YOU WILL NEVER WANT IT TO GO OFF!
AGAIN HE WILL GET USED TO IT , HE MUST USE IT THOUGH!
APS
Tell ur hubby that he could actually die if he dosent use this machine!!!!!! He needs to know that sleep apnea is SERIOUS!!! My hubbys first wife died of this. Ask the doctor if theres any thing else he can do to help this situation. good luck.
If you dont like it then you should go sleep on the couch once in a while to catch up on your sleep.
How long have you two been together? My husband snores like a train. I would have to shake him or nudge him to stop but it never worked. I have slept in another room a few times but I’m so used to his snoring it doesn’t bother me anymore.
He has to wear the mask. That is very important. I know it’s irritating but there’s nothing he can do about.
The only thing I can tell you is, in time, you may get so used to it that it won’t bother you anymore.
just sleep in another room
My husband wears a machine at night for sleep apnea. He sleeps like a log. Maybe your husband should give it another try. Maybe it will take him a little bit to get used to it. My husband says he wouldn’t sleep without his now. He sleeps 100 percent better with it then he ever did without it. Is it uncomfortable for him or is he just maybe self conscience about having to wear it at night in front of you.
The both of you should rearrange your sleeping arrangements. One of you sleeps in Room A, the other in Room B. My wife has sleep apnea and a machine…that and her restlessness drove me crazy. I moved into another room. It makes intimacy a challenge sometimes (we have a lot of kids), but a good night’s sleep is worth it.
