have anyone heard of sleep paralysis?
i think I may have it and had a sleep study done for sleep apnea which is totally different from my symptoms.
to ashbee, since i was 15 after a head trauma accident, i would wake up it didn’t matter what time of the day or night but i would be paralysed but awake eyes still closed and i would be hyperventilating but it would sound like i’m snoring but i wasn’t. I could hear everything around me but couldn’t move. I appreciate all responses.
no they didn’t pick it up on the sleep study so the doctor ruled out sleep apnea which i told him that it was the complete opposite but you know doctors have to rule out everything he even thought it was RLS.

They didn’t notice it in the sleep study? Sleep paralysis is very real, and can be very scary…though usually harmless…physically. What are your experiences / symptoms?
sleep paralysis is caused by a "sleep hormone" released by the brain that keeps you from acting out your dreams in your sleep, if your body produces to little of this you find people sleep walking, talking in there sleep, punching and flailing in bed, if your body produces to much you might find yourself waking up and unable to move.
if you google it you will find out loads
Yes, I’ve suffered from sleep paralysis since I was a child. I’m currently taking medication to treat it as it has gotten worse as I have gotten older. Basically, what happens is your mind wakes up before your body. So you are mentally awake, but you can’t move your body because it’s still in a paralysis state. It’s a glitch in your body. Different people have different experiences while in this state, some can be extremely scary. Though physically harmless, it can be emotionally traumatic. Feel free to contact me if you have more questions, as I know it’s difficult to find people that have had the same experience.
