Do you need to use one of them there CPAPS?
For sleep apnea. I gotta use one, keeps me from snoring. I didn’t realize that I had a severe case of sleep apnea until I took a sleep test.
Its kinda weird at first, but you get used to it after a while, it seems to help me sleep better. And that’s sticking pretty close to science fact.
(no more space aliens, I promise. Well, for a while, anyway) Although sleep apnea can cause some strange feelings and beliefs during one of those periods when breathing has stopped.

I have used one for 8 years..it is a lifesaver in more ways than one..I find I don’t fall asleep every time I sit for a minute, I can actually read the paper and stay awake..plus it also decreased my chances for a heart attack and or stroke..
I have an uncle who swears by it, and he said it really has helped him a lot.. He stopped using it because his doctor told him too, and he lost all his energy ever since..So…he’ll probably start using it again.
I had a brain tumor removed in Sept 2001 and developed sleep apnea in November of that year. Fell asleep while driving and almost crashed. Had a sleep study done, found out I stopped breathing 126 times in 3 mins. Had a
build up of carbon dioxide in my blood stream and it was doing all kinds of nasty things to my brain: brain fog, headaches, blurred vision, etc. I was still drowsy even after they elevated the pressure in the CPAP machine, so my doctor prescribed a drug called "Provigil". It works wonders and I can go all day without feeling drowsy. I also take "Cerefolin", which is a highly concentrated B-vitamin. Really improves your memory and takes away that "omg", am I getting dementia?" feeling caused by lack of oxygen to the brain.

My husband tried it for one night. I asked him to stick with it & try to get used to it, but he wouldn’t, so now he keeps me awake to make sure he’s breathing.
Before this, we tried the breathing strips, but his skin was too oily to make them stick, the throat spray, the pillow…..
If you have any other suggestions, I’m open to them.
I probably need one. I already go to sleep with a wrist guard on each hand (carpel tunnel syndrome) and a mouth guard (TMJ) every night. Might as well get a CPAP. All this and I haven’t hit 40 yet. LOL

I know several people who use them with great success. They do take some getting used to.
Have been using a CPAP for 5 years. Meant, quite a few less nightmares, less possibility of stroke or heart attack too. I hated the mask at first because it was hot and annoying in the Summer but the mini versions available now are really comfortable and no one has an excuse not to wear it. The version I wear is based on nostril size: S, M, L,. Does take a little getting used to having the part at the base of the nostrils but not long. Losing weight helps people with Sleep Apnea too.
If you’re getting mask parts through an HMO and the company won’t change to the smaller version, change to a different medical supply company. Notify the HMO or choose another medical service provider on their list.The medical company providing my masks kept telling me there weren’t any different masks available. They lied. They had over-ordered and were trying to get rid of overstocked parts.
All I had to do was get a copy of my prescription to the new medical supplier and now I’m a happy camper.
i found a bottle of wine does the trick for me– no snoring since i sleep on my side and sleep like a baby!!! yes a baby have to pee at three!!!
