Sleep Apnea Symptoms Archives
I had sleep apnea when I was younger due to very large tonsils and adenoids. They were taken out when I was four years old. I am now 18 and have been having difficulties falling and staying asleep for around four or five years now. I was wondering if there is any connection.
I had one last weekend and I thought it sucked. I could barely sleep with the wires and the room was FREEZING. I told them 3 times that I was cold and they wouldn’t do anything about it. Then I had to stay all day and take naps.. I couldn’t sleep because I was frozen and the wires were irritating me. I have no clue if there’s even anything wrong with me. Did I just have a bad experience?
I’m 13 years old and have been constantly tired for almost a year now. I’ve been tested and i don’t have anemia or any thyroid conditions. I don’t snore even though both of my parents do, and i was wondering if a sleep study would help me find out what’s wrong. Also, I would like to know what happens during a sleep study.
Thank you!
just wanted to know what sort of work was involved with having an 11 month old baby with hypotonia (low muscle tone) which they think has only affected her from her neck up to her throat, nose and ears and also sleep apnea…. she has a ct scan booked and is being admitted to hospital in a few days!!! also getting bloods tested for about 12 different things…just wanted to know what other mothers/fathers went through so i know what to expect in the next few weeks/months/years and dont completely break down….
thanks
Over the past 3 weeks i haven’t been able to get a full nights rest,i always fall asleep and wake up about 10-30 minutes later then it takes me about 3 more hours to fall asleep again i have almost all the symptoms for it (Not obesity) Ive lost my interest in women my grandpa told me i snor when i sleep,im fucking horrible in school (worse than i was before) im sleepy all day, wake up early in the morning, and when i tell my dad i think i have it he just laughs and says "youll be fine" and when i wake up and go out in the living room he tells me to shutup and go to sleep. Im very scared because i read that this can kill you over time someone please help me someone even the slightest bit of info ill take.
I suffer from severe apnea as well as insomnia, I have a cpap which I find difficult to use, I have also went thru the surgery that is supposed to help with apnea but that made it worse. I have tried to use traditional meds like lunesta, but I become immune quickly but in the meantime, I suffer from memory loss and the like.
___ out of ____ people die from severe sleep apnea. (or any other statistics about mortality rate)
what is the life expectancy with proper treatment?
When I try to describe my symptoms, my parents don’t believe me. They sound kind of similar to sleep apnea, but with a few differences.
At least once a week, I wake up in the middle of the night and I can’t catch my breath. My body is having a "pins-and-needles" tingling sensation all over and sometimes my jaw is trembling violently. I can’t move any part of my entire body. I can’t open my eyes or yell for help or anything as hard as I try.
The scary part that nobody believes is: during all of this, I’m having nightmares/hallucinations that there are ghosts or a stranger in my room. The tingling sensation causes me to dream that there are bugs or sometimes rats crawling all over me. The dreams are like I can see through my closed eyelids, even though I can’t open them. I can see the room that I went to sleep in perfectly; it looks the same as it does when I open my eyes. The realness of it is very terrifying.
After I try long enough, my jaw stops shaking, and I start breathing normally again, I try to vocalize but usually all that comes out are very quiet screechy sounds.
After a few minutes I can open my eyes and blink and then eventually move my limbs again.
Any additional information that might be needed is that I am a 17 year old female. I am healthy; I have no major health problems that I know of. This has been happening since I was around 14, but it has been happening very, very often throughout the passed 6 months or so.
I’d really like to get an idea of what’s going on. I’m pretty sure it’s sleep apnea, but since my parents don’t seem to think so, it would be nice to get another opinion.
Oh, and 10 points to the most helpful answer (:
For a few months, all I do is sleep. Then the next few months I can’t sleep at all. And even when I am sleeping I wake up tired. What is going on?
I have a vacation in September and I am planning on doing part of the driving on an 8 hour trip,my problem is the hypnotic effect it has on me and falling asleep, what is the best way to deal with this problem?
I was diagnosed with sleep apnea last year after having 2 sleep study testing done , I got put on a cpap machine and tried every mask u could Imaging. I would pull it off somewhere thew the night. I went to see the sleep dr last week and he said that i have a very mild case of apnea and would like me to try this anti snore shirt from rem-a- tee. Its a belt that wraps around as high as you can get it under your arms and comfortable and snug as you can get it with three pouches in the back your blow up theses 3 inflatable bumpers and put them in each pouch, u have to lay on your side, and it stops u from rolling on to your back , and if u do roll on it in a deep sleep your back is in so much pain the next day and your hip hurts to, i been doing some searching on the computer for other devices, there’s 2 that im checking out ones a mouth piece that u use which some people say hurts your lower jaw,, than there this one its called the jaw strap where you wear it strap over head and jaw both have testimonies that said they work? does anyone have this problem and ran into anything that didn’t hurt are annoyed you like the cpap machine and all that crap on your face.
In the last four months, I’ve had a Ct scan, Hide-a-Scan, two heart studies, three halter monitors, sleep study,Sonogram, full body bone scan, endoscopy and complete blood work up. My cholesterol was slightly above normal. The sleep study showed I have sleep apnea. ( I now wear a C-Pap @ 17 psi w/ 5 lpm o2). The endoscopy showed some signs of mild damage due to aspirin and tylenol taken for the pain. The CT scan showed mild degeneration of L1 & L2 but otherwise nothing significant. (History of prostate cancer. Dr thought maybe the cancer had metastasized into the spine but bone scan showed no evidence of cancer) Moderate to severe pain in RUQ was diagnosed as costal condritis. Symptoms of this are improving.
Bone chilling fatigue haunts me. I’m fairly certain that this is a direct result of the low o2 sats.
Any ideas? So far, the doctors have not found out the problem. Thanks!
Does insurance usually pay for it, if you cannot get used to a nosepiece and want to try a mask?
Can any one tell me about this thing? Will I feel better during the day? Do I have to use it every night?
Do I buy the machine or rent it? $$
My mom may have a sleep disorder and we do not know what it is. She falls to sleep very easy, all she has to do is lay down. Half the time she is not even tired. Then when morning comes she has trouble waking up. Someone has to call her in order for her to wake up all the way or she will fall back to sleep. She is not having irregular dreams or breathing patterns, but I am very concerned about her.
Im 11 weeks pregnant with twins, my dr sent me for a sleep study because I am so tired and have not been sleeping well. They said that when i get into a deep sleep my oxygen level drops in half. Yjey put a c pap on me for the second half of the test and still didnt see much improvment. Anyone eles had this? Really worried about the babies. I have been so stressed like they need anymore stress.
They******************* sorry for any typos
My current BMI is around 36-37 I also believe I have obstructive sleep apnea (haven’t been diagnosed but looking at the symptoms online i’m right on the money.) I have tried many diets, regulated my calorie intake exercised 6 days a week, taken many appetite supressants and I can not seem to lose weight. I am interested in gastric bypass surgery however I do not have health insurance and most of the insurance plans i’ve looked into say they do not cover pre existing medical conditions. what steps can I take to make this surgery possible? Are there any health plans that might cover this? Please help!
Are the effects of chronic sleep apnea similar to the ramifications of sleeping in a reduced oxygen environment? For example, a room with poor ventilation.
Where I work you have to be alert at all times( at Chase Bank in the collections department)this guy who sits in front of me is always sleeping. so one day me & a couple of other co-workers watched him for a while.what he does it falls into a deep sleep(snoaring & everything) then when a call comes in he’ll wake right up and take the call as if he wasnt sleeping. Before he went on the phones by himself we caught him sleeping while he was standing. He’s still in training but on the phones. Do you guys think its some kind of sleep disorder or something?…and Im wondering if the company knows.
I am going in tonight to a sleep center. Do they watch you, do they give you a sleep aid? I don’t sleep well in Hotel rooms, I doubt I’ll be able to sleep well knowing they are monitoring me.
I have a serious medical issue that has not been resolved and it is slowing getting worse. It started about 2.5 years ago not too long after a car accident where i would be sleeping and wake up with a severely dry throat. I would and still do wake up 2 to 10 times a night and i have water next to my bed to take care od the dryness. Now it feels like theres something in the back of my throat yet ive never coughed something up ever. Last couple months i have had a slight cough and i have to clear my throat sometimes. 1st doctor i saw had an xray done of my throat as well as sleep apnea test. The sleep apnea test i only got 1 hour of sleep so naturally they didnt find anything wrong. But either way i dont snore which is common among people with sleep apnea. 2nd doctor was nose and throat specialist who thinks i have acid reflux yet i dont have a history of heart burn. im taking pills for it but it just gives me gas with no reief of my symptoms.
For the past few days, I haven’t been able to get much sleep because I wake up wheezing and gasping for air. It feels like my air passage has closed, and it normally takes an hour or so to get my breathing pattern back to normal. During the day, I don’t have any difficulties and I don’t appear to be ill. I’ve looked up sleep apnea, but I don’t have the symptoms… I don’t suffer from heartburn (well I have random chest pains, but never after eating), sore throat or nausea so I don’t think it’s gastroesophageal reflux (GER), although it does seem like it happens when I’m lying down. I’ve tried the Vicks rub but it doesn’t have any effect. I haven’t done anything odd recently, rather than watch Avatar the night before the symptoms started. Was the movie so good that it left me a breathless insomniac (haha joking) or could it still possibly be GER or is it something else? What can I do to stop it?
For a couple weeks now i have been having trouble sleeping just laying in bed until about 4.30 am.
When i do go to sleep i wake up crying with the pillow soaking and when i have sleepovers my friends say i shout people’s name out normally my friends. Why am i sleeping like this? It’s starting to take my toll on my school work.
I also read that taking your tonsils out helps. Any GOOD info will help. HELP
