Army sleep apnea question?
I am stop lossed and undergoing a medical board for back pain. During the process i was also diagnosed with sleep apnea. The army pulmonolgist told me today that its recommended that i use a CPAP machine to sleep at night. He told me that it would make my MEB take longer if i accept the treatment by using the CPAP. And in turn could stay in becuase the cpap fixed my problem. What do i DO???Deny treatment so that my problem does not get better and get out. Or take the treatment and risk having to stay in….why do i have to choose between my health or getting out???

It sounds like you want to get out. If that is indeed the case then just deal with the sleep apnea until you get out. You’ve had sleep apnea for a long time and have been fine (it’s not a disease that begins suddenly). It can get worse or lead to other medical problems, but that takes many years.
BTW, if your MEB is for your back pain (not sleep apnea). Just because you are undergoing a MEB doesn’t mean that you can’t be treated for other medical conditions. Your pulmonologist does not need to write an amendment to your MEB unless he feels it’s relevant to your back pain (unlikely) or you request him/her to do it.
I have to admit I am a little confused about your question and situation.
