I was diagnosed with sleep apnea several years ago. I tried the C-PAP for about six months and hated it. It’s like sleeping with your face attached to a vacuum cleaner set in reverse so that it blows instead of sucks. My ENT told me I only had a 50/50 chance of the surgery curing the condition, but I went ahead and took the chance. In February 2006 he removed my tonsils, adenoids and uvula (that little hangy down thing in the back of your mouth). Recovery was a b__ch for about a week, but now my wife says I only snore if I have a cold or if I’ve been drinking too much, but still never as bad as before. My ENT says I still have the condition, its just much better now. I wake up much more rested than before also. All-in-all I’m glad I did it.
Have a sleep test done to confirm the apnea. If confirmed, they can wear the CPAC mask and resolve the whole issue. No surgery needed. I knew one fellow that had the surgery, and it didn’t work. Even though he could hardly drink water for a week, and ended up back in the hospital.
My husband has sleep apnea. He didn’t have surgery, He uses a C-Pac machine. It works wonders, he loves it.
Has your husband had a sleep study done? I would do this before surgery.
I have apnea and use the cpap. I hate it but the surgeon freaked me out and wanted to cut this and that and basically give me a nose job lol. The cpap’s work well as long as you don’t mind sleeping next to Darth Vader!
My husband has sleep apnea and he sleeps in the garage. No, not really…but I wish. LOL…he needs the cpap or surgery BADLY!!!
A friend of mine has sleep apnea; he had a surgery, and he now uses a CPAP machine at night; it helped a ton.
I suspect my husband has sleep apnea, as he snores a lot, but it’s a beotch to get him to go to the doctor. I can’t imagine breaking up over it, we simply sleep in different rooms.
