Each and every night i sleep at no earlier than 5 am, coz i can’t. (i wake up late so i sleep ok) I actually have a fear of sleeping i find hard to explain: everytime i try to sleep i keep thinking about what happens when my mind goes to rest, and i freak out. This problem caused a new one to form where i am afraid of not being able to sleep everytime i try, which leaves me lying around for long periods of time. Sometimes, i even have nightmares about seeing myself asleep, and knowing that I am dreaming, yet i am stuck in this dream and i cannot wake up. Eventually i do wake up (in my dream) then i fall back asleep uncontrollably so it feels like I’m trapped! Any ideas plz?

We’ve never had a problem with her weight. She has been to a sleep study and had X-rays on her adnoids. She hes abnormally large tonsils and adnoids. She is set up for surgery I was just curious as to how common it is?

Recently I’ve noticed that I seem to be always tired, which makes it very hard to focus. I discovered this because I need to stay focused at my new job. I get up at the same time everyday, around 8 am, and no matter what kind of sleep I get I seem to feel tired more often then not. It’s not every single day I feel this way, just a majority of them. Always feeling tired like this affects my mind as it makes it cloudy and I have problems focusing and remembering simple things even short term things. Recently I’ve been sweating a lot while sleeping as well even though I always have the air conditioning on. I don’t seem to snore though which makes me feel as though it isn’t sleep apnea. Feeling this way also makes me very irritable during the day, which I always blamed on feeling tired. Another detail to note is that I’m not obese. I do get between 7-8 hours of sleep everynight and sometimes more on the weekends. What leads me to think it could be depression is that too much sleep can be one of the symptoms which on weekends if I dont force myself to get up I will remain in bed sleeping and feeling tired. Sometimes I do feel depressed it mainly happens at night when Im alone. I try to push these feelings aside and distract myself with tv or a game. These symptoms are found in both depression and sleep apnea. I want to be able to think clearly and not feel tired all the time. What could it be? Is it possible its all in my head?

Ok, so I have recently starting dating a guy who has sleep apnea and has to sleep with that little machine. So far it has not been a problem, its actually better because he doesn’t snore and yell anymore. I just want to know a little more about it and what can I do to help him?

My navy husband and I are scheduled to move (PCS) to London, England. I have a few health issues like high blood pressure, but they’re well managed and under control. However, now I’ve been told I’ll need to use a BiPap machine (basically forced air to keep my airway open during sleep) for my apnea. Does anyone know if this will put me into the Exceptional Family Member category? We’re all so excited about this assignment, and I’d hate to lose it over this.

I have a patient with mild obstructive sleep apnea, who had Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery recently after a Myocadial Infarction, and now he is recovering well 5 days post-op but his sleep apnea has worsened and he can’t get any sleep ever since the surgery.
do you have any suggestion or any management options to offer?
thanks a lot !

Military Question: any 1 out their with Sleep Apnea and receiving 50% for it. If so, what is the actual amount each mouth that you get. Can some one help.

I dont really want to talk to a recruiter about this question because I dont want to spoil my chances… I have (had) sleep apnea, last month I had a rhino/septoplasty done to fix it. I feel ok, I am just concerned that they will look at my medical records and see "sleep apnea". I am sure the problem was fixed, but I dont really want to tell them because then I have to go get a sleep test done, and a waiver (and my sleep might still be bad). the point is I am ok, and can function like any other person. Anyway thanks ahead of time.

well from some of the research that i have done,
it shows that i have symptoms of it
well just recently i had an "episode"
and also i was able to recreate it
it was a pretty odd experience
just before that i had a dream that this women told me to say these words(i cant remember) it seems that i was lucid dreaming and when i said those words is when the episode happened, also after i woke up i
did something that made me be able to recreate it(it felt like i had died, my hands fell to their sides and i passed out, for a lil while, i dont know how long)

idk if i should take this seriously, i havent told anyone because im pretty sure they wouldnt believe me

I went to a doctor this morning due to extreme fatigue for several months (not pregnant). She didn’t do any bloodwork to check iron, thyroid, sugar or other issues that cause fatigue. She didn’t even question diet or exercise. She just said for me to have a sleep study done and see her in 6 weeks. Is this normal? It seems like the simple solution was skipped in favor of a more costly & time consuming solution.
I saw the work order for the lab and she requested "female preventative" including cholesterol and she did order a CBC (whatever that is) but those were all she ordered.

I noticed that I have been feeling really weak and really tired. I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and Narcolepsy, but it seems like that isn’t the cause, because the doctor gave me a sleep apnea machine and prescribe me with Provigil and Ive been using it everyday. It’s been like a year now and I still feel weak and my sleep was never refreshing. Could this be chronic fatigue syndrome or barrs empsom virus? Where do I go to get tested for CFS? I am sure that is the cause, because even with increase dosage of provigil I still feel really low energy…Any ideas?

I know I read about this somewhere, but I need to know the name or where I can find out about it.
Apparently, a normal human takes about 30 minutes to begin dreaming, and according to the sleep disorder, the person will begin dreaming immediatly, within minutes.
Can anyone recall the name?

when he breath when sleeping, but when he is not sleeping, he is ok. Is this a medical emergency to take him to the emergence room, i am so scare to see his condition worsen each day. I went to the emergency room and because the saw him walking around, the nurse told me we are going to spend more than four hours waiting because they have to prioritize their patients. What should i do since these symptoms happens only during the night? I also went to see our family doctor 2 days ago and he said they will book an appointment with a pediatrician but don’t know how long that will take. I’m worried keeping this child at home.
I am using humidifier and nomal saline drops, no change just getting worse by the day.

Have you had surgery to treat sleep apnea? What was your experience like?

I am having a hard time getting used to my cpap machine. Are their any alternatives that work well for my sleep apnea

Hi there-
Recently diagnosed with moderate to severe sleep apnea. Also it has been stated that I am not staying in REM sleep for any useful length of time.
I usually sleep very little at night…always have been nocturnal.

I sleep best during the day. But the last 5 months have been rough.
I only stay asleep for a couple hours and then feel hyper and irritable when I get up.

New diagnosis of sleep apnea and very poor amount of REM Sleep.
I am doing a titration study tonight with c-pap machines to see what volume works for me.

I would like to hear from others on how if at all treatment has helped?
If your situation is similar to mine as far as minimal amounts of sleep with diagnosis of apnea?

What can I expect with treatment. Some have said they feel better right away. Others have said it takes awhile. I would like to hear anyone else’s experience with this.

Thank you.

PS…Do you ever adjust to life with that machine stuck on your nose?
And is there sex after c-pap even if your significant other doesn’t have a thing for Darth Vader breath sounds?

The only symptoms I have are forgetfulness, bouts of sleepiness during the day, (often) lack of focus when I am awake, and (rarely) a dry open mouth when I wake. I’m 16, 5’2", 125-128 pounds.

i told my parents i have sleep apnea but they don’t believe me. I told my dad but he ignored me and my mom said to just ignore it. I’m sick of having to deal with this and it really scares me that i might die and i’m only ten. Once i had a dream that the school was flooded with water and i tried to reach the top for air then i woke up and realized i wasn’t breathing. i have it for tons of times and sick of it not being treated

My 16 month old has never been a good night sleeper. He sleeps a couple of hours and then wakes up briefly. It used to be for a bottle, but now its either for a drink or he just sits up whining and then goes back to sleep. I noticed last night that he holds his breath while he is sleeping and then slowly lets it out making a moaning sound. His dad does this if he is really tired, too. Does this sound like a form of sleep apnea or just a normal kid thing? I’m wondering if he is waking up b/c of this. He has his check up at the end of July and I’m gonna mention it to the pediatrician. Do you know if they would do a sleep test on him? Just looking for mom’s or dad’s who may have experienced this. Thanks in advance!!

Im in Chicago so if you have done one here please list the company name so I can look into it. Thanks.

Occasionally I wake up to my husband making very strange, terrifying noises. I wouldn’t say they were wheezing sounds, but when he breathes in its loud and sounds painful. The first time I heard it I thought it was a cat or a baby crying. I wake him up every time, and he just apologizes and goes back to sleep. He isn’t short of breath, and doesn’t seem to really have any symptoms of Sleep Apnea. What could it be? (He doesn’t have asthma, but he does get allergies sometimes).

My husband has sleep apnea and he just will not wear the CPAP mask. Over the past couple of weeks he has begun waking up during the night because he is vomitting.
I am wondering if this is related to the sleep apnea, maybe the vomitting is caused from the loss of breathing? I know he stops breathing during the night because I hear him gasping for breath.
Just wondering if I should call is PCP or his specialist for this one.

I would appreciate any suggestions as to alternative treatments. Is there anything natural that has helped you with sleep problems? What herbs or supplements can you recommend. I don’t like being on these pills.

I’m a nurse, so I’m well aware what sleep apnea is, what causes it, and what the treatments are.
My problem is that my best friend (age 53) has SEVERE sleep apnea, he goes for 30-45 seconds without breathing (while asleep). Its affecting his mood, his lack of feeling rested during the day, his extremities turn pale and/or gray while he sleeps, and one of these days I’m afraid I’m going to find him dead in his apartment.
He has seen a doctor, he’s had multiple sleep studies done, he even owns a C-Pap machine (which he refuses to use).
He had a heart attack 3 years ago, and had cardiac cath with 3 stents placed, and I’m certain that the sleep apnea is doing much additional damage to his already damaged heart.
I’ve BEGGED him to see a doctor, he claims that "all the bloodwork comes back normal", and his yearly stress test results are always "within normal limits". Still, I worry for his life, he is my BEST FRIEND, and I don’t know what else to do. I’ve slept over many times, watching him sleep, and when his breathing stops, I often wonder if it’ll start again, I count the seconds, and breathe a sigh of relief when he gasps for another breath.
He’s almost 100 lbs overweight, a former smoker, and bipolar.

I am stop lossed and undergoing a medical board for back pain. During the process i was also diagnosed with sleep apnea. The army pulmonolgist told me today that its recommended that i use a CPAP machine to sleep at night. He told me that it would make my MEB take longer if i accept the treatment by using the CPAP. And in turn could stay in becuase the cpap fixed my problem. What do i DO???Deny treatment so that my problem does not get better and get out. Or take the treatment and risk having to stay in….why do i have to choose between my health or getting out???
